You’d think that Taylor Swift must be all the rage in the Chiefs’ training rooms, with players vibing to her songs such as Bad Blood while working out. However, in an intriguing twist, General Manager Brett Veach recently revealed why Taylor Swift’s music is noticeably absent from the Kansas City Chiefs facilities.

The story traces back to a moment just after the Chiefs faced off against the Chicago Bears, where Taylor Swift had made her first appearance last year. In a recent episode of NASCAR on FOX, Veach revealed that and also his most frequently asked question during the 2023 season. And yes, it has a Taylor Swift connection.

Veach shared that following the Bears game, an enthusiastic assistant decided to play a Taylor Swift track during practice—a choice that swiftly caught the attention of key players. “Travis looked at Pat, Pat kind of shook his head and said, ‘No more of that’,” recounted Veach. This brief exchange between the star TE and QB effectively silenced Swift’s tunes in the Chiefs’ practice sessions and facilities. Since that day, no Taylor Swift song has graced the speakers of the Chiefs’ facility.

Veach humorously noted that throughout the season, the most frequent question he received wasn’t about the team’s opponents or strategy. Instead, people were more interested in his potential celebrity encounters. “Certainly, the number one asked question that I had the entire season had nothing to do with the opponent or the game… it was, did you get to meet Taylor Swift?” Veach explained. As per the latest reports, Veach is yet to meet the girlfriend of his most valuable TE.

Even though Veach may not have met Swift, he was instrumental in the meeting of two stars from the entertainment and sports industries.

Eric Stonestreet fumed at Veach for Brady debacle

During a recent episode of Games With Names hosted by Julian Edelman, Eric Stonestreet delivered a hilarious tale about an amusing yet unexpected encounter with Tom Brady. Stonestreet, a passionate Chiefs supporter, shared how he was startled by an urgent text from Veach while en route to the team hotel during a Super Bowl. “He texts me out of the blue, ‘Bro, where are you?’ I tell him I’m about 20 minutes away, and he’s all excited, ‘Tom, Tom Brady’s here at the pool!'” Stonestreet recalled.

Stonestreet was hoping for a more formal introduction to the QB, a hope dashed by the circumstances Veach orchestrated. Stonestreet humorously described the awkwardness of the situation. “I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. This is embarrassing. It’s awkward trying to grab someone’s attention this way,'” he said.

The situation escalated when Veach pushed Stonestreet forward to introduce themselves. “He’s reclined like this and he literally raised his shoulders two degrees off the back and he goes, ‘Hey, nice to meet you,’ he just puts his shoulders back and that was our meeting with Tom Brady. I am like, ‘Veach, I will never in my life forgive you for embarrassing me like that.’ So now we call Tom Brady, ‘Two degrees Brady,’ he chuckled.

Here’s hoping that Eric gets a chance at redemption and gets to meet Brady again, albeit with more engagement this time and with Brett Veach nowhere near them.
