Though the New England Patriots got a win over the Cleveland Browns by 32-13, Myles Garrett was an absolute beast out there. Five sacks in one game, that’s a new personal best and a Browns franchise record. Poor Will Campbell, the left tackle rookie, got a real welcome to the NFL. Garrett literally owned him on several plays. Three of those five sacks came right off Campbell’s side. Even though New England pulled it off, head coach Mike Vrabel had few words for his rookie.

Though Campbell showed toughness and resilience facing Garrett, it just wasn’t his day. Vrabel said, “It’s always a challenge when you play Myles Garrett. It’s always hard to recreate that – what are we going to do on the show team? Who do we have? If we did, they wouldn’t be on the show team,” states Alex Barth, co-host of Patriots Catch 22 podcast on his X.
Vrabel kept it honest but encouraging when talking about the rookie’s performance, stressing Campbell’s struggles with “probably needs to close the space a bit.” He constructively addressed his tough outing.

“I mean that’s a tough task, and that’s a tough challenge,” Vrabel said of facing Garrett. “I think Will has high expectations of himself and wants to do well, and some of these challenges in this league are difficult, and playing Myles Garrett is one of those.
While Campbell had an underwhelming performance on Sunday, he has been an offensive shield in protecting his quarterback, Drake Maye.

The Patriots might have found their future left tackle
Back during the draft offseason, Campbell promised he’d “fight and die to protect Drake with everything I’ve got,” and so far he has backed that on the field. He’s been a steady force on the left side, giving the Patriots’ offense much better balance and consistency. Even though his matchup with Myles Garrett was a tough one, Campbell’s body of work this season shows he’s been a reliable protector, playing a big part in keeping Maye upright.
Before facing Garrett on Sunday, Campbell allowed just 2 sacks and 10 hurries in 270 drop-backs. He has started in all 38 games that he played, proving his longevity and affect on the field. The 320 lbs rookie sits at 68.3, ranking 30th out of 77 tackles. His pass blocking grade is a bit stronger at 73.4 (23rd/77), while his run blocking grade comes in at 68.1 (31st/77), according to Pro Football Focus grades. Even Garrett also vouches for the 21-year-old rookie.

Even with the loss, the real headline was all about Myles Garrett’s dominance. The Browns’ start edge rusher put on a clinic, earning a 91.8 PFF pass rush grade with a 29.6% win rate. He racked seven total pressures on the night. It was one of those performances that completely took over a game, reminding everyone why he’s one of the league’s most feared defenders.
