The Philadelphia Eagles are not yet done with their roster. In fact, just eight days before the trade deadline on October 31, Philly’s GM Howie Roseman secured safety Kevin Byard. But that’s not all for the Super Bowl LVII runner-ups as they have another player to make a trade. This reported exchange has come forth right before their clash with the Washington Commanders.

Currently, the Eagles are 6-1 in the season and sit top of the NFC East standings. Despite being in such a great position, Roseman has his eyes on any potential trades for the team’s future. There is no doubt in the fact that the 48-year-old manager has time and again looked for the team’s betterment, which includes upgrading his 53-man roster to fit the team’s needs. The recent update also hints toward the same!

The 2017 first-round pick is available

GM Howie Roseman, even after the mega pick of Kevin Byard, is far from done with the trades. This was clearly evident when the reports concerning the 2017 NFL Draft’s 1st round pick, Derek Barnett surfaced online; hinting toward a potential trade. According to the statement addressed by Dov Kleimen on his twitter handle, #Eagles Pass-Rusher Derek Barnett is available for trade, per @AlbertBreer.”

The defensive end Barnett, who was picked by the Eagles in the first round pick at 14th overall in the 2017 NFL draft “has 21.5 career sacks since entering the league, with 75 QB hits.”  This was also stated in the tweet alongside the news of the availability to put forth the probable value, Barnett adds to the team.

The team has a lot of wealth on their edge rusher and his contract is also ending in 2023. Hence, Barnett was allowed to look for trades last off-season. Alas! The trade did not happen and it resulted in the reduction of the DE’s deal due to contract restructuring. Now, he is available and given the skills of the footballer, any team looking for an edge rusher would find Barnett available at a reasonable price, like Atlanta Falcons.

This makes him an expected addition in the starting role alongside Reed Blankenship. The 2x Pro Bowler has done some great things so far with the Titans including his 27 interceptions and 63 passes. As defensive coordinator Sean Desai also claimed, Byard will be bringing his “versatility” to the team, which is already in the best phase this season too.

Now all eyes will be on the next possible trades by Howie Roseman and on the upcoming plays of Kevin Byard.
