Back when Lamar Jackson was just a young child, he liked playing football. But his father and grandmother died on the same day in 2005. And his entire world was crushed. But his mother, Felicia Jones, was determined to make him a star. These moments forced her to take the center stage and come out of background shadows. She doesn’t do interviews. But around the league, her presence is well understood. Executives and coaches know her. They have heard the stories.

It was Felicia who negotiated Lamar’s rookie deal. It didn’t matter if she knew it beforehand or not. Everything that her son required her to be, she took up that role. The league’s finances are complex, but she maneuvered this with ease. On Mother’s Day on May 11, he tweeted for his mother and all mothers who work tirelessly for their children, “Happy Mothers Day to all the moms throughout the universe” with 2 blue hearts and one hug emoji.

Lamar’s success also paid full respect to her struggles. Two-time MVP (2019 & 2023). Two-time Pro Bowler. One of the most uniquely dangerous weapons the league has seen in a decade. Not only passing, he also excels in the rushing game. All the requirements, the resilience, calmness, confidence – that come from her.

He has seen her under pressure and soaked all those qualities. He doesn’t flinch in press conferences, in negotiations, or the breathtaking moments when schemes break down. That stoicism, that edge—it’s Felicia. That’s her imprint. And it’s shaped how Lamar moves through the league and life without getting overwhelmed with success or broken with the defeats.

The Ravens QB has become a fully mature person now. He is donning multiple hats at once, NFL star, business owner, and an inspiration for several children in America.

Lamar Jackson planning for life after NFL

For the last 7 seasons, the QB has been playing his trade in the NFL. He even took the Ravens into 6 playoffs. But the Super Bowl Trophy has always evaded him. Mostly the Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, have always stopped them in their tracks. This year, the Bills did that. Now, Lamar Jackson has started to prepare for life already.
