Pro Bowl Games: Baker Mayfield Beats AFC’s C. J. Stroud as Texans QB Rues Personal Declaration

The Super Bowl matchup will follow the Pro Bowl Games, where football stars have much to enjoy. The Pro Bowl Games will be held in Orlando this season, a week before the Super Bowl. The best players from the AFC and NFC in the league have 10 skills competitions, which promise much enjoyment to players and fans. However, Baker Mayfield has stolen the limelight with his performance this time.

Today, the Pro Bowl featured a precision passing contest. Top quarterbacks from the AFC and NFC divisions compete against each other, including C.J. Stroud, Baker Mayfield, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jalen Hurts. However, an unexpected turn occurred when Baker Mayfield took the lead over Houston Texans quarterback Stroud after he expressed his thoughts.

In the pre-game interview, Texans quarterback Stroud playfully shared something very staid: “I like playing from behind.” But later, he rued his decision as Mayfield surpassed him in the precision round. Initially, he had a great start with 26 points in the precision passing, but in the end, Mayfield won the contest, beating C.J. Stroud with a 9-8 score.

Interestingly, C.J. Stroud is the second rookie for the Texans to have been honored to play in the Pro Bowl. Following the Chiefs’ presence in the Super Bowl, Stroud will play in Patrick Mahomes’ place and, as a result, become the 13th rookie QB in the NFL to earn such prestige in the Pro Bowl Games. But it seemed the matchup was daunting for the quarterback.

With today’s win, it seemed the NFC could win. Currently, the NFC is on a 12-point lead against the AFC, per an X post by the NFL that reads, “The NFC holds a 12-6 lead on the AFC heading into Sunday.” AFC teams have won over half of these games, while the NFC has recorded 22 successes.

The AFC has won five Pro Bowl Games since 2016, and the NFC broke the streak in 2022.

With today’s outcome, it seems that NFC still has the chance to etch their win in the 2024 Pro Bowl. But again, the Pro Bowl is a game full of unpredictability. What are your thoughts on this?
