Pro Bowl Games: Everything You Need to Know Heading Into Sunday’s Clash Between AFC and NFC

This year’s Pro Bowl Games in Orlando will be a bit different from the traditional format. Moreover, skills games will be played throughout the week and flag football will also be included. As the Super Bowl is already scheduled between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, the Pro Bowl offers a relaxed yet competitive atmosphere for the league’s elite from both the AFC and NFC.

Before the Chiefs and 49ers square off in Super Bowl 58, some of the NFL’s best players are taking the field in Florida for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. As players take a break from the regular season’s intensity, fans are again in for an entertaining mix of skill competition and fun.

2024 Pro Bowl Games: A second year of skill competition and flag football

The Pro Bowl, scheduled for Feb. 1 and Feb. 4, definitely offers an exciting prelude to Super Bowl LVIII. This is the second year of Pro Bowlers throwing themselves into fun challenges – games blended with traditional football like Dodgeball, Closest to the Pin, High Stakes, and Kick-Tac-Toe.

The event began with a Pro Bowl Skills Show which aired live from the University of Central Florida’s Nicholson Fieldhouse, on Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Peyton Manning and Eli Manning are serving as coaches for the Pro Bowl Games.

The main event which is scheduled on Sunday will be available across ESPN, ABC, Disney XD, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes from 3-6 p.m. ET. NFL fans can also live stream the games on Fubo (United States) and DAZN (Canada). The events scheduled for Sunday include, Flag Football, Gridiron Gauntlet, Madden NFL Head-to-Head, Move the Chains, and Tug-of-War.

The NFC has been already leading with a 12-6 advantage as per the NFL’s X account post. They captioned saying, “The NFC holds a 12-6 lead on the AFC heading into Sunday 👀.” Naturally, the NFC eyes another consecutive win.

Also, this contrasts with the AFC’s record of five Pro Bowl victories between 2016 and 2021. The winning team will definitely set the stage for an enthralling showdown among the league’s top players. Now, which competitions have the two teams already won? Let’s find out.

NFL stars shine in skill competition at the Pro Bowl

At the 2024 Pro Bowl Games, unique talents from the NFL were on full display through a variety of unique challenges. Furthermore, in the Precision Passing game, Baker Mayfield shone for the NFC, while the Closest to the Pin contest saw Bryan Anger securing points with a near-perfect golf shot.

The High Stakes challenge was aced by AFC’s Miles Killebrew, as he showcased his exceptional punt-catching skills. Additionally, the NFC’s dominance continued in Snap Shots, with Andrew DePaola and Jason Kelce scoring big. On top of that, a thrilling Dodgeball event ended in a split.

Each conference’s offense overcame the defense. The Best Catch competition remains a highlight, with David Njoku and Puka Nacua‘s performances still open for fan votes.
