Maxx Crosby thought he was the newest member of the Baltimore Ravens. Now, after the blockbuster trade was shockingly nixed, he’s breaking his silence on what transpired behind the scenes. The Raiders star opened up about his experience during the failed move, shedding light on a process that ultimately fell apart after he failed his physical.
“I didn’t get to see the GM at all. I thought I was gonna see him when I first got there. I didn’t see him for five hours. I don’t know why. I am not gonna speculate,” Crosby said on The Rush podcast. “I even asked, ‘Where’s Eric (DeCosta)?’ You know what I mean? He just made the trade. I didn’t see him for five hours.”

Crosby’s account on his podcast painted a picture of a confusing and disjointed visit to the Ravens’ facility, which included a flight to the Washington, D.C. area followed by a drive to Baltimore to meet the team. Crosby said he did not meet GM Eric DeCosta for several hours after arriving at the facility and said the interaction with head coach Jesse Minter felt “off” to him.
“At the end, they’re like, yeah, I’ll take you up,” Crosby continued. “Joe was like, I’ll take you up, you go see the head coach, whatever, just before you leave. I was like, ‘Hell yeah.’ I want to say what’s up to him. I went back up, and I dapped him up, and I could just tell, like, the energy was a little bit off. And that was the first time I saw him. Like, I’m so excited, like, fired up, you know what I mean? Like, this is a new opportunity, whatever. And you need to just tell the energy was off.”
#Raiders DE Maxx Crosby addressed the fallout of his trade to Baltimore in the latest episode of @TheRushWithMaxx:
– Ravens flew him to DC on Monday, then had to drive to Bmore.
– He didn’t meet with HC Jesse Minter and GM Eric DeCosta until the end of the day after he had…

Crosby’s account has led to questions and speculation about how the situation unfolded from the Ravens’ side after reportedly agreeing to a trade package that included two first-round picks. However, once the deal was off, citing a failed physical by the 28-year-old, the Baltimore front office completed the signing of former Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson within 24 hours.
Furthermore, speaking after the trade was rescinded, the Ravens GM DeCosta expressed he was “gutted” but had to make a decision in the best interests of the Ravens.
“We were really excited about essentially adding Maxx to our team,” DeCosta said. “It’s devastating for me to have that conversation. It’s also very, very hard for the player.”
While Maxx Crosby is still upset with his botched trade, the star defensive end has embraced his return to the Raiders for one more season.
Maxx Crosby sends emotional message to fans after Vegas return
All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby reiterated his commitment to the Las Vegas Raiders after his trade to the Baltimore Ravens. Since being drafted 106th overall in the third round by the Raiders, Crosby has been a fan favorite.
“Everything Happens For A Reason,” Crosby wrote in a post on X. “Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. Im A Raider. I’m Back. Run That S—.”
Adding to the positive news, Crosby’s agent, C.J. LaBoy, confirmed the 28-year-old is on track to return from his meniscus tear during the offseason program.
“Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and, if anything, is ahead of schedule, according to his surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache,” LaBoy wrote. “Maxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past 7 seasons.”
Maxx Crosby’s failed trade to Baltimore left a sour taste, but the All-Pro pass rusher is focused on his recovery and ready to make an impact in Las Vegas once again. With his return ahead of schedule and his commitment to the Raiders reaffirmed, Crosby appears determined to prove he still belongs among the NFL’s elite.
