Essentials Inside The Story
- Cam Heyward revealed Maxx Crosby’s reaction to the failed Ravens deal
- On March 10, the trade was officially voided after Crosby failed his physical
- After the failed trade, the Ravens signed Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 M deal
In less than a week, the league watched one of its most hyped trades collapse in real time. The blockbuster trade deal sending Maxx Crosby to Baltimore failed in less than a week following a failed physical test. And while the 28-year-old was visibly thrilled at the time of the trade, the man at the center of it all is finally speaking out about what the Ravens put him through a week later.
Speaking on the Not Just Football podcast about the collapsed trade, Cam Heyward revealed Maxx Crosby’s feelings toward the Ravens.”He [Maxx Crosby] was like, ‘f—k those dudes. I’m staying and f—ing with the Raiders.’ And I was like, alright, I can respect that.”

What Crosy told Heyward captures the frustration that ran underneath the entire saga. Crosby had wanted out of Las Vegas. He said he would never play in silver and black again. Yet here he is, back in Las Vegas, suiting up for another season with the Raiders.
The situation could not have been more painful for either side, but Crosby is not sitting around waiting for apologies or explanations. He has made his peace, and he is moving forward.
“No one will ever admit what the real truth is. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter. I am where I’m supposed to be,” Crosby said on an episode of The Rush podcast. “I’m here. I’m meant to be a Raider. In this…for life until that changes, which I don’t foresee, but you never know.”
To understand why it stings, let’s go back to March 6. The Raiders agreed to trade Crosby to the Ravens in exchange for two first-round picks: one in 2026 and one in 2027. It was a massive deal for Baltimore, marking the first time in franchise history that the Ravens traded away first-round picks to acquire a veteran player. For Crosby, it felt like the fresh start he had been chasing.

He took to social media almost immediately, posting updates for his fans and letting them know he had arrived in Baltimore.
“I know there’s no guarantees in this,” Crosby said in a video posted on his social media. “But I’m going to give everything in my heart and soul to bring a championship to Baltimore. There are no more words needed for that…I’m so excited. I cannot wait to get out to the city and meet everybody.”
All that was left was the physical, a routine formality, or so everyone assumed. But just days after the trade agreement was announced, reports began swirling that Crosby had failed his medical evaluation. And then came a statement from the Raiders that raised more questions than it answered.
“The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We will have no further comment at this time,” the Raiders announced on March 10.
Just like that, the deal was dead. For now, he remains a Raider, but that does not mean the trade speculation has gone away. The problem is that what happened with Baltimore has left a question mark hanging over his value heading into any future deal.
The injury that blew up the Ravens trade, but not the trade rumors for Maxx Crosby
Everything that unraveled in Baltimore traces back to one thing: Maxx Crosby’s left knee. In Week 7 of the last season, Crosby suffered a left knee injury against the Chiefs. Still, he refused to come off the field.
He played through the pain for the remainder of the season, piling up stats while managing a torn meniscus. Then the Raiders made the call for him, sitting him out for the final two games of the regular season. That decision effectively ended whatever trust remained between Crosby and the organization.
He read it as the franchise protecting their draft positioning over his career, and the relationship never fully recovered. And now, that same knee injury had just ruined the biggest trade of the offseason. But Crosby’s agent, CJ LaBoy, was quick to push back on any suggestion that his client’s knee was in serious jeopardy.

“Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule, according to his surgeon Dr. Neal El Attrache,” agent CJ LaBoy said in his statement on X. “Maxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past 7 seasons.”
Las Vegas has welcomed Crosby back with open arms, and Crosby himself has publicly committed to the Raiders. But whether those deep knots in the relationship have truly been untied in just a matter of days is something not everyone is ready to accept at face value. The Raiders could still move him if the right offer lands on their desk.
“If the Raiders are gonna go trade him today, I think his value would be 80 cents on the dollar,” ESPN insider Adam Schefter said. “All the factors that are out there make it less likely that Maxx Crosby would be traded. And most important, we have Maxx Crosby professing love to the Raiders and saying that he wants to be back there. So it’s almost like these two have gone to some chapel in Las Vegas to renew their vows.”
According to Schefter, the Chicago Bears are among the teams that could come calling for Crosby. The Raiders are not shopping him, but the right price has a way of changing the conversation fast.
