The Week 9 clash between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Las Vegas Raiders was an absolute classic. A game that started as a defensive slugfest through the first three quarters, with the scoreboard saying 6-9 in favor of the home team before the tide changed. In the fourth, both teams went blow for blow before the game entered overtime at 23-23, and the Jaguars pulled through to secure a 30-29 win. But amidst the high-intensity action, Jaguars kicker Cam Little created NFL history, which left Raiders DE Maxx Crosby completely stunned.

Though Little scored the game-tying field goal from 48 yards away with 16 seconds left in regulation time. It was his 68-yard kick that broke the NFL record for the longest field goal. This historic strike came at the end of the first half and took the score to 3-6, with the Raiders leading. But reacting to this monumental moment, Maxx Crosby was flabbergasted as he could only say, “Hell no. Damn!” while watching the pill fly away into the goalpost from 68 yards out.

This field goal, besides breaking records, was also a crucial moment in the game for Jacksonville. As the momentum shifted in the Jaguars’ favor, Montaric Brown intercepted a Geno Smith shotgun pass at the top of the third quarter and allowed his side to level the scores at 6-6 from a Cam Little 33-yarder. Though the Raiders retook the lead, the Jaguars emerged victorious at the end.
Cam Little was ecstatic about this record-breaking feat, but the former Arkansas Razorbacks placekicker also believes someone could soon break his record. “There’s so many guys that are very, very capable of hitting that kick, and just all comes matter of when you get the opportunity, seizing it. So I don’t doubt that someone will probably break that record at some point,” Little said.

Cam Little wins AFC special teams player of the week award
A few days after breaking the NFL’s longest field goal record, Cam Little was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. He finished the game 3-of-3 on field goal attempts as well as extra point attempts, producing 12 total points. This was Little’s first Special Teams Player of the Week accolade through his two-year career.
The 22-year-old from Moore, Oklahoma, also became the youngest kicker in NFL history to reach 40 made field goals. But, barring this award, Cam Little has had an inconsistent 2025 season with poor overall accuracy. Through the ongoing NFL season, Little has a low 76.5% conversion rate while going 13/17.

Cam Little’s slump included several critical misses, which had a disappointing stretch where he missed three of his last six attempts before the Raiders game. These missed opportunities were from 50 yards or more in back-to-back games against the Seahawks and Rams.
