Despite signing a new head coach in former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, the Las Vegas Raiders could be without their star edge rusher, Maxx Crosby, with several reports signaling towards a possible trade. While the rumors continue, the Raiders’ defensive star has been urged not to consider America’s Team.

“Imagine Max having to deal with the chaos that is the Dallas Cowboys and the zoo that is Dallas,” former Philadelphia Eagles star Emmanuel Acho said on his Speakeasy podcast. “The Cowboys are not football-first; they are money-first. Max Crosby is football over his health. You all remember how the season ended. He had a messed-up knee, and he wanted to play.”

This warning for Maxx Crosby was in the aftermath of a report by NFL insider Tom Pelissero, who revealed America’s Team as a possible landing spot for the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year finalist.

“Maxx is from that area, he trains in the offseason with CeeDee Lamb,” Pelissero said on The Rich Eisen Show. “The Cowboys have ammunition. They don’t have any Day 2 picks this year, but they’ve got two first-rounders. They’ve got enough cash and cap flexibility. Jerry Jones has indicated they’re going to be aggressive, and I believe a lot of that aggressiveness is going to be focused on the defensive side of the ball.”

Reacting to these reports, Acho highlighted how the Jerry Jones-owned franchise has garnered a reputation for focusing on the team’s finances over winning. America’s Team, despite its 30-year championship drought, remains the most valuable sports team in the world, valued at $13 billion, according to Forbes.

Furthermore, the Dallas Cowboys generated $629 million in operating income last season, as reported by Forbes, making them the most profitable sports franchise in the world. However, Jerry Jones and Co. have struggled to replicate this success on the field, as the Cowboys have a 5-13 record in the playoffs since their last Lombardi Trophy win in 1996.

The franchise has faced criticism for not backing their star players and instead making them wait for much-deserved extensions. The Cowboys nearly took the entire 2024 offseason to secure an extension for QB1 Dak Prescott before signing a deal hours before the first game of that season. Similarly, star wideout CeeDee Lamb’s extension was delayed by a holdout that lasted over 30 days during the 2024 offseason.

While Maxx Crosby is warned about not pursuing a trade with the Dallas Cowboys with these lingering issues, his current team, the Raiders, believes their star edge rusher is here to stay despite these various rumors.

Raiders GM expects Maxx Crosby to stay amidst trade rumors

With the rumor mill working overtime to speculate on possible Maxx Crosby trades, the Las Vegas Raiders stay strong in the belief that their defensive star will remain in Sin City for the foreseeable future. Raiders GM John Spytek confirmed this development at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis when asked if he expects Crosby to stay.

“I do,” Spytek said. “… Maxx is an elite player, and I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them.”

As Las Vegas gears up towards a new era under Klint Kubiak, retaining Maxx Crosby, who closed out the 2025 season with 10 sacks, 73 tackles, and 28 tackles for loss in 15 games, will be paramount. Hence, this offseason is expected to be an intense time for Raiders Nation as it is set to finalize the future of a fan favorite ahead of the 2026 season.
