The Dolphins had been trying to renegotiate a long-term deal with the DT for the last couple of years. They drafted Wilkins as their first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Last season, the Phins activated the fifth-year option in his rookie contract. However, both parties could not agree to a deal and Wilkins became a free agent.

But, the 28-year-old did not last long in the free agency market. The Raiders offered him a consequential deal of $110 million for years, with $84.75 million in guaranteed money. And, the 2X CFP Championship winner did not wait long to join the ranks of the Raiders.

The Raiders are one of the few franchises in the league at present to have their way. And not everyone can slide right into the team’s strong locker room culture. With personalities like Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones, it takes a special player to join the defensive ranks at the Raiders.

However, 310 lbs Wilkins will provide the much-needed strength to the Raiders. Making them even more fearsome this season. Over the years, the Raiders have taken pride in their defensive line and all signs point to Wilkins thriving in that situation.
