Davante Adams emerged as the primary target after Puka Nacua was seen holding his ankle with shrieking pain against the Baltimore Ravens’ 17-3 win. The Rams fans were gasping when Nacua was seen limping towards the sidelines.

During a post-game interview, when asked what was going through Adams’ mind when Nacua was limping to the locker room. “You worry about him to a certain extent, but it’s still Puka Nacua at the end of the day. And you know how tough he is, and he will likely come out of it. Obviously was not feeling amazing, but with a little bit of time right now, going into next week, he will have time to heal up and make it back out there,” Adams said.
Nacua was already facing knee issues this season. During the second quarter at M&T Bank Stadium, Matthew Stafford, the quarterback, hit Puka Nacua in the end zone with a high pass on a pivotal third-down play. Fearless, Nacua jumped and fought for the contested catch against Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey. He secured a field goal for the Rams by tipping the ball away to avoid an interception.

Adams and Nacua have gotten along well, becoming one of the best receiving combinations in the league. Despite the knee problem, Nacua caught 79 passes for 990 yards in 2024. The third-year receiver is known for his toughness on the field, willing to get dirty while blocking in the run game and fighting for extra yards after the catch. Although Adams believes he will be back for the next match, Sean McVay seems to think otherwise.
Nacua faces uncertainty before the London fixture
According to Adam Schefter, “Sean McVay said WR Puka Nacua has an ankle injury and he is uncertain if he will be able to play next week against the Jaguars in London.” According to McVay, Nacua overcame severe discomfort to make a comeback in the second half adding 28 yards with two catches.

This season, Nacua has been a key component of the Rams’ passing attack, leading the team in yards and receptions. He is on track to reach nearly 2,000 yards in 17 games this season with 52 receptions, 588 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. He broke rookie records last season, hauling in 105 passes for 1,486 yards and six scores. Nacua has now secured 3,279 receiving yards in his career.
Nacua has 52 catches and has participated in 76.72% of the Rams’ offensive snaps through four games, including the time he missed for sutures in the season opener.

Their offensive rhythm would be greatly affected by his departure, especially in crucial third-down scenarios and red zone effectiveness. Any absence would put extra pressure on the remaining targets, who already suffer from depth issues at wide receiver for the Rams.
McVay stated that additional assessment is being conducted, but did not specify a timeline. Whether he travels and performs in London will depend on how well he recovers in the next several days.
