Under 37-year-old QB Matthew Stafford and HC Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams are dealing with multiple injuries this season. They also dealt a blow to their confidence during the week 3 matchup with a 26-33 loss to the Eagles. But the wizard is ready for the showdown at the SoFi Stadium. Some things are looking up, and some are not when it comes to injury updates.

Of all the injured players, OL Steve Avila had limited practice on Wednesday, September 24. It was a great sign for Matthew Stafford, who looked confident during the media press conference. He said, “Obviously, a big, talented football player, a guy that has played a lot of meaningful snaps for us. I know he’s been doing everything he can to try to get to feeling as good as he possibly can as soon as he can. So happy for him that he’s feeling good enough to be out there.

That’s the silver lining for their week 4 clash against the Indianapolis Colts. Avila, the second-round pick (36th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft, has protected his QB enough times. In his rookie year, he played every snap in the offense and started all 17 games. To suit the team’s requirements, he even played the left guard position. However, he moved to his natural position as a center the following year.

The Rams missed him in the 2024 season when he injured his knee in week 1 and returned in November. This year, he went back to left guard and started against the Texans in the 2025 starter. But after spraining his ankle, he hasn’t played the last 2 games. So, Matthew Stafford can breathe easy if Avila is back on his offensive line.

Even the HC Sean McVay revealed LG’s injury status. He said, “Steve is limited. Yeah, he’ll take like half the reps.” But he did not confirm if Avila will play or not. When asked, “Do you expect him (Avila) to play?” the coach replied, “We’ll see.” So, the shroud of doubt still exists.

It’s coming when the LA Rams are also battling more injuries.

Matthew Stafford & co. battle more health scares

Sean McVay knew the pressing point for the Rams. So, he started his press conference from it and said, “Rob (Havenstein) and Davante (Adams), they came in a little sore. Rob, with his ankle, will not participate today. Deonte has a sore hamstring. Everybody else will be limited, but you know, we’ll take it a day at a time with those guys. I’m not expecting it to affect our game status, but like I said, we’ll take it a day at a time.

OL Rob Havenstein started all 3 games in the 2025 season and played 187 snaps. However, he is currently suffering from an ankle injury and has sat out practice this week. Yet, Matthew Stafford can work with it. The bigger issue is the veteran receiver.

Davante Adams also started all 3 games for the LA Rams this year and finished with 13 receptions for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns. And he was their receiving room leader. If you remember, Sean McVay was absolutely ecstatic when he announced the Adams’ arrival to his locker room during the offseason. Overall, he has experience with 105 TDs in 12 seasons. But he also did not practice on Wednesday, September 24.

The Rams are eagerly waiting for the injury report on Thursday, September 25. If these guys aren’t at least limited by then, suddenly this Colts matchup feels a lot more dangerous than it did on Monday morning.
