Being a sports mom is difficult, and no one knows this better than Randi Mahomes. The ‘mom guilt’—that comes with handling personal aspirations, working two jobs just to make ends meet, and being around for Patrick‘s tight football schedule—all at the same time, was a struggle too real. Then, there were days when she’d coax him into believing otherwise every time a 10-year-old Pat thought football was simply not for him. Baseball, football, basketball—didn’t matter, but Randi was determined not to let her ‘Energizer Bunny’ quit.

Randi was just 20 when she had Patrick. But if the preceding years had taught her anything, it was perseverance. After high school, she had nowhere in particular to call home, spending several years couch surfing at friends’ places. For all that she has been through, now, many years later, Randi basks in the glory of all the hardships turned to gold. In fact, when Patrick made his fourth appearance at the Super Bowl, Randi would say, “Sometimes, I look back and I’m like, ‘Where would I be if I didn’t have him?’ Because I wasn’t going down a bad road, I just wasn’t going on a road.”

And contemplations like this have led to her new book, titled Sports Parent Academy, a comprehensive playbook that intends to help parents navigate the sports industry with their children.“After months of praying, planning, and putting my heart into this, Sports Parent Academy is coming to life,” Randi Mahomes wrote last month. It will feature helpful tips on “the wins, the hard lessons, and everything in between,” you name it! And until now, Randi has cleverly kept the launch date under wraps. Well, guess what? She has finally announced the big date!

As promised a month ago, Randi was at a YMCA event in Green Bay, seated with other sports moms. She captioned it, “Take me back to this incredible event at the Y! I loved sitting down with fellow sports parents and having real talk about showing up for our kids — on and off the field! Big thanks to the @greenbayymca and their amazing interim CEO for having me. Moments like this are exactly why I’m launching the Sports Parent Academy on May 20. Can’t wait to keep these important conversations and moments going!”

Randi’s statement felt like a personal and professional leap, and her followers obviously responded well to it, as her platform has expanded to include much more than just the Mahomes name. While the mom is busy with her latest project, how did Patrick Mahomes wish her on Mother’s Day?

Patrick Mahomes’ milestone was a big enough tribute for Randi!

Mother’s Day 2025 was filled with touching tributes and emotional events. The mother soaked in the happiness of fan messages and a heartfelt letter from her younger son, Jackson Mahomes. He honored the woman who raised him and posed with Randi in a picture. It was captioned: “Happy Mother’s Day! I love you so much!!”

But Patrick Mahomes had other things on his mind. The quarterback was busy celebrating a significant milestone of his own. While Mother’s Day passed without a public acknowledgement,. Patrick Mahomes announced his induction into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, writing: “It’s an honor to be inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. As a part of this recognition, I’m proud to announce that @adidasfballus and I are signing 15 high schools to Team Mahomes that will represent my Gladiator logo on uniform, starting with Whitehouse High School. This is just the beginning.”

At Whitehouse High, Mahomes played various sports but eventually stuck to football. As he exceeded expectations, he turned into a 3-star prospect coming out of high school. In fact, during his last two seasons at the school, he recorded 8,000 yards and over 90 touchdowns.

From there, he continued his football career at Texas Tech for three seasons before making his way to the NFL in 2017. And throughout his journey, Mom Randi was right beside him, navigating the tough sports industry for the first time.
