The thrill of the Super Bowl LVIII is on! The Kansas City Chiefs were ahead of the San Francisco 49ers for the first time in the Super Bowl LVIII, but the Niners soon picked up their lead once again. Besides that, Patrick Mahomes’ recent unwanted record has put a black spot on his impressive NFL resume.

During the game, the 49ers’ defense came out strong to open the first half and gave a tough competition to Mahomes. As a result, the quarterback experienced arguably one of the worst interceptions ever in his career. How did it all go down?

The 49ers were playing extremely strong against the Chiefs. And the Chiefs offense were having their own rough start. However, there were expectations that the Chiefs might turn out good from the start of the second half. But that didn’t happen either. During the opening drive of the third quarter, Ji’Ayir Brown picked off Patrick Mahomes.

After two plays, Mahomes threw an interception, marking his first in his last two postseasons. Mahomes scrambled before floating a pass to Travis Kelce, and unfortunately, Brown picked it up as an advantage.

Not only this, even in the beginning of the third quarter Chiefs already faced a setback when Isiah Pacheo fumbled a pitch from Mahomes, resulting in a loss of 12 yards. And then the following interception against Mahomes, turned it to be the worst.

NFL fans on Twitter weighed in their thoughts, with some commenting on Patrick Mahomes’ play.

NFL fans didn’t expect this, but the 49ers are happy!

It was clear that Patrick Mahomes wasn’t able to find any option to credit a score to their team. Although he ran to cover some more yards, anxious & perplexed Mahomes threw the pass without seeing his teammate. And thus, he was picked up by Ji’Ayir Brown. Chiefs’ faithful didn’t like it , and therefore, commented their thoughts on X on the play.

A person wrote, “Had someone wide open. Not really sure what he was thinking. Rare bad bad mistake.”

Another one wrote, “Lmao what is this Mahomes performance? He is seeing ghost.”

Someone said, “This is an atrocious throw.”

Furthermore, the 49ers coverage reporter, David Lombardi highlighted, “The top pick of the 49ers’ 2023 draft, Ji’Ayir Brown, intercepts Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl. No draft-eligible college player in 2023 had more INTs than Brown over 2021-22. The 49ers had a very good idea they were getting a ballhawk.”

The 49ers fans were extremely happy at that moment as the score was 10-3 at that moment. Some of the Niners fans chimed in this intercepted play, praising Brown. One wrote, “Wow, great job JI’AYIR BROWN 🙌🏈 But like, can we not celebrate throwing shade at Mahomes? Let’s keep it classy fam.”

Someone said, “Ugh, can we just give Ji’Ayir Brown extra credit for that amazing interception already?! 🙌🏈”

However, as the matchup ended, the Chiefs found their reason to smile and celebrate. KC became the Champions once again, marking their fourth Super Bowl win in the league.
