Quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted an Instagram post with the caption “#DadBodSZN” with a picture of him in the gym with Rice and the newest member of the Chiefs Kingdom, ‘Hollywood’ Brown. Eagle-eyed fans noticed Rice’s T-shirt with a picture of Mahomes flaunting his dad-bod. Rice recently shared the interesting anecdote behind the viral post.

The wide receiver relayed how he got the T-shirt as a surprise for Mahomes. This post especially amused the fans, as it was a reminder of Mahomes’ shirtless picture from last season, which showed the quarterback in an unflattering angle. Rice revealed that one of his teammates had made the reference t-shirt for him, and the WR chose to debut it this off-season.

“I think after that game on the shirt, the AFC Championship, I went into the locker room, and the shirt was just sitting in front of my locker,” Rice revealed, as per The Kansas City Star, “Everybody loves that shirt. Dad-bod season.”

As for Mahomes, the quarterback was completely unaware of the surprise waiting for him.

“I don’t know where he got it from,” the Chiefs’ star confessed. “But it just showed up out of nowhere, and he said he had something for me. He told me that before he even came to work out. I didn’t know what that was gonna? And, of course, it’s dad-bod shirt.”

When Mahomes’ shirtless lockerroom photo went viral, the quarterback took the embarrassing attention in his stride. While most players are taking their time off on vacations in the offseason, the Chiefs’ backbone is already back in the gym to outdo his previous records.

Mahomes determined to wash away all ‘dad-bod’ judgments

While Mahomes promises that he is going to “keep working” to get in better shape, he confesses that he likes “having a dad body.” Fans can rest assured (or perhaps be disappointed) that the QB doesn’t plan on getting rid of his dad-bod but would definitely like to improve on it. And his intensive training routine over the past month is a clear testament to his grit and determination.
