No one was worried about Lamar Jackson more than John Harbaugh when the QB left the Week 4 game against the Chiefs with a hamstring injury. He did not practice all week and is out of the Week 5 game against the Texans. Now, everyone wants to know who will fill the enormous gap left by the Ravens‘ usual starter.

When asked about the position of QB Cooper Rush and Tyler Huntley in the QB depth chart, the coach cleared it. He first clarified that he would not mix the QBs against the Texans and said, “Well, Cooper would be the next guy up and then Tyler would be the guy after that.” That’s an expected move!
That was evident from the time when the head coach brought them in. In March 2025, Rush signed a two-year, $6.2 million deal, up to $12.2 million. Huntley signed with the Ravens’ practice squad in August, just days before the season began. But Harbaugh certainly wouldn’t want the 31-year-old to suffer an injury as well.

Rush and Huntley had unique styles in 2024. The former started 8 games for the Cowboys, going 4-4. He threw the ball 308 times, completing 60.7% for 1,844 yards. He had 12 touchdowns with only 5 picks, but didn’t push the ball much, averaging 6 yards per throw. On the ground, he was basically no factor, with just 18 rushing yards on 26 tries.

Huntley started 5 games for Miami and went 2–3. He completed 64.7% of his passes for 829 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. His passing numbers were smaller, but he did impress with his legs, 135 rushing yards at 5.2 per carry and 2 scores.
On the injury front, he cleared that both backup QBs are ready to go. John Harbaugh added, “Cooper’s had a great week of practice. I don’t think Tyler had an incompletion today. He was really good today. Had a great day today, and so if it’s those two guys, then they’ll be ready to roll.”
However, the Ravens are down with many injuries. And the head coach was furious about this in the conference, too.
John Harbaugh shows his angry side
It first came out when a reporter tried to ask about Lamar Jackson’s injury. The coach replied, “Yeah, I’m just not going to comment on any of that. Like I know what you’re saying. It’s like now if I talk about Lamar, then it’s going to be the next guy and the next guy, and it’s just kind of all injury report related.“
However, if you think that was his fiery side, please stop.
The coach then explained his stance while adding, “It’s not that I don’t want to put it out there. It’s just it’s too many guys even to talk about, you know. So, we’d just be talking about every single guy, and it’s just better to leave it with, you know, we’ll see when we get there because some guys aren’t going to get there.” And the Ravens’ injury report, which came out later, proved him right.
If you add Jackson, there are 15 names on their injury list. Three players, CB Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring), LB Roquan Smith (hamstring), and FB Patrick Ricard (calf) are also designated out of the week 5 game. Awuzie played 92% of snaps against the Chiefs. He injured his ankle back in practice, but this time, he has injured his hamstring.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed that Smith has suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain and will miss “a few weeks.” Moreover, Ricard will miss his fifth straight game this year. So, the constant worries have made the coach angry.
