Both the Chiefs and Ravens come into Week 4 sitting at 1–2. A year ago, who would’ve guessed one of these elite teams would hold a 1–3 record? Kansas City has the edge in momentum after knocking off the Giants, and DB Jaylen Watson wasn’t shy about his scouting report: the Ravens’ only real threat is Lamar Jackson.

He had some big words about the Ravens quarterback. “He plays like a maniac. With his legs, it’s hard to get stops. When you’re plastering and when you’re chasing guys in a scum drill, it’s hard to…actually see that ball because you’re chasing your man. So its hard to make plays,” he said. Lamar Jackson has been the Ravens’ saving grace this season. Or, well, the only saving grace.
Remember all that offseason chatter about how the new receivers or the defense would carry him? Yeah, about that. He’s been carrying them, not the other way around. He’s the lone spark keeping this offense alive while the defense can’t seem to stop anyone. And if the game witness isn’t enough for you, the numbers back it up.

The Ravens have averaged 37 points per game. That’s the best in the league. On the other hand, they’ve given up 32 points per game, which makes them the second-worst in the league. They also sit in the bottom three across all major defensive stats: total yards allowed per game (415), passing yards allowed per game (266), and rushing yards allowed per game (149).
The Ravens would have been sitting on a 0-2 record without Jackson, getting hammered every single game. He’s racked up 434 yards so far with six touchdowns (tied for 1st in NFL) and zero picks. Yes, zero. Imagine the number of points they’d give up with even more turnovers. And that’s exactly what DB Jaylen Watson plans to do to stop him.

“That’s a big emphasis. Try to get Pat the ball back. So, try to create turnovers. Whether that’s getting interceptions or fumbles, fumble recoveries,” he said. The problem? Picking off Lamar this year is like trying to grab a live grenade. Honestly, it might be easier for the Chiefs to just outscore Baltimore. Because when your defense gives up 32 points a game, math isn’t really on your side. But still, September 28 will tell the reality.
Lamar Jackson has a chance to make history vs the Chiefs
Lamar Jackson has been rewriting record books ever since he first picked up a football. Back in his college days, he came out on top to win the Heisman Trophy. He was the youngest (19 years, 337 days) to do so. Now that he’s putting up MVP numbers at Baltimore, the record-breaking energy doesn’t seem to stop.
After what has been a rather electric start to his season, he has a chance to cement his name in the history books. Last week, he threw three touchdowns with no picks, pushing his season passer rating to 148.1. If he follows it up against the Chiefs with two more scores, zero interceptions, and a rating north of 125, he’ll be the first player in league history to post that stat line in four straight games. Nobody’s ever done it.

But that’s not the only milestone in reach. Two touchdowns and a passer rating of 90 or better would put him in elite company, becoming just the fifth quarterback ever to pull that off in 12 straight games. It would see him join the likes of Brady, Rodgers, Philip Rivers, and Peyton Manning.
Here’s another one for you if you’re a stat nerd. If the Ravens quarterback manages a 140-plus rating this week, he’d be only the fourth QB in NFL history to hit that mark across the season’s first four games. And the way he’s playing, it’s likely that he will break each of these records.
