The Baltimore Ravens had a disastrous start to their season after being pegged as title contenders all offseason long. They’re currently 2-5, sitting 3rd in the AFC North, and things don’t seem to get better anytime soon. Their idea of a fix? Take out all the ‘fun’ equipment from the locker room. And apparently, Lamar Jackson wanted them to go one step further.

Apparently, after their fourth straight loss, reports started circulating that the coaching staff wanted to strip the locker room of all distractions. But the real story? It was actually the quarterback who reached out to the equipment manager and worked out an arrangement to get rid of everything that didn’t help the Ravens win football games. And he wanted the TVs gone, too.

“I told Kenico, our head equipment guy, I told him to take all the games, ping pong, turn the TVs off — if we could have taken out the TVs they’d have been out too,” Jackson said.

Lamar Jackson also revealed that Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti put all that stuff in the locker room so that it felt more like a place to relax than a stress-filled space. And that every single one appreciated that gesture. But Lamar didn’t really feel like playing ping-pong after a 2-5 start to the season. He knew the team had to lock in.

“I appreciate Mr. Steve for putting that in for us but we had to focus,” Jackson said. “I don’t want to say people don’t take their jobs seriously, don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t feel it was the time for that. We’ve got a lot of work to do.”

Honestly, considering how rough things have been, it’s hard to imagine anyone even wanting to play ping pong right now. Still, Lamar made it clear that if his teammates want their toys back, there’s only one way to earn them.

Lamar Jackson reveals one condition to get the games back

When Lamar Jackson was asked what it would take to put the ping pong tables and other games back, he had a rather straightforward answer. “Keep winning. Keep winning. Keep winning. We’re not going to have them the rest of the year, so keep winning. We’ll probably have them next year in the summertime. OTAs or something, but right now, that’s not the focus.”

Basically, no games. Not even next year unless the Ravens somehow make the playoffs. And honestly, the way things are going, that’s starting to feel like a long shot. As of Week 8, the Ravens were sitting at 2-5 and looking completely lost.

Their defense has been a nightmare, giving up nearly 260 yards a game and allowing 30 points on average. At least their offense used to keep things competitive before Lamar got hurt. But back when he was healthy, even he couldn’t overcome the defense giving up 30 points every game.

Still, there’s a flicker of hope. The Ravens have a chance to turn things around this Thursday when they head to Miami to face the Dolphins. Lamar Jackson is finally expected to suit up for the first game since late September, and he noted that he’s “extremely excited” to take the field again.

Add in the fact that their next few fixtures are all very much winnable. Every team has a leaky defense. Over the next four weeks, they’ll be going up against the Dolphins (2-6), the Vikings (3-4), the Jets (1-7), and the Browns (2-6).
