Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown has been openly frustrated with his lack of targets through the first four games of the season. Brown, who is coming off a very strong 2024 campaign where he caught 67 passes for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games, has just 151 yards this year, with 109 of those coming in one game.

The 28-year-old has been shut out in one half of every single game thus far. In Weeks 1 and 3, Brown did not record a single catch in the first half. In Weeks 2 and 4, he did not catch a single pass in the second half. Earlier this week, the WR voiced his displeasure with the media, saying it’s hard to stay engaged if you’re not getting targeted for half the game.
“If you don’t get targets, and you don’t see the ball for half the game, two hours, man. It’s hard to stay engaged,” the player said.

Brown isn’t alone in his frustration, his teammate DeVonta Smith echoed his sentiments during media availability this week.
“Things aren’t necessarily going our way offensively, and I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with him wanting better in that situation,” Smith said. “I certainly feel the same way.”

Many have taken these comments as these two potentially wanting out of Philadelphia, even though the team is coming off the heels of a Super Bowl victory. We could see a trade request from either one of these two in the coming weeks, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be dealt.
The Eagles have the luxury of not needing to trade either of their star wideouts. They have a Super Bowl-caliber roster and both are signed to long-term deals. The Eagles are happy to give the situation time to work itself out, but if someone comes calling and offers them the right price, they could pull the trigger.
Here are three realistic trade packages for both AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith and how likely they are to occur.
1) A.J. Brown to Buffalo
Ever since Stefon Diggs left the Buffalo Bills, they’ve had a gaping hole at wide receiver. They’ve surrounded Josh Allen with some pretty good talent, but he hasn’t had a dominant WR1 for the past two seasons. If the Bills want to be buyers at the deadline, they could be very aggressive and try to get AJ Brown from the Eagles. The only problem is that the Eagles may not want to sell him to another contender, but since the Bills are in the AFC, they could let him go for the right price.
Package: 2026 1st rounder, 2026 4th rounder
Odds: 20 percent
2) DeVonta Smith to Kansas City
Much like the Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs are also hurting at wide receiver. They’re without Rashee Rice (whose suspension will be up in a couple of weeks) and Xavier Worthy just got back from injury. Once those two are back up to playing speed, the Chiefs offense will be very dangerous, but adding someone like DeVonta Smith to the mix could firmly cement them as the favorites in the AFC. The Chiefs are the team the Eagles would least like to sell one of their receivers to, but a strong offer could get them to bite.
Package: 2026 1st rounder, 2026 5th rounder, 2027 3rd rounder
Odds: 15 percent
3) A.J. Brown to New England
In a perfect world, the Eagles would be shipping AJ Brown to a non-contender that’s looking for a true WR1. The New England Patriots fit that bill. The Patriots have a young, exciting quarterback in Drake Maye, who desperately needs an elite wideout to elevate his game to the next level. It would likely take their first rounder in 2026, which could end up being in the top-15, but if it gets their star QB a bona fide WR1, they could entertain it. Plus, Patriots legend Julian Edelman was quick to jump on the idea of bringing Brown to New England.

Odds: 30 percent
4) DeVonta Smith to Pittsburgh
With Aaron Rodgers under center, the Pittsburgh Steelers have firmly put themselves in the playoff conversation. We know the defense has been there for a while now, it’s just been a matter of the offense catching up. And if they could add a receiver like DeVonta Smith, they could be ready for a deep playoff push. D.K. Metcalf has been a very solid WR1 for the Steelers this year, but adding a weapon like Smith would help take some of the attention off of him. It would cost an arm and a leg, but it could be a worthwhile move for the Steelers.
Package: 2026 1st rounder, 2026 7th rounder, WR Calvin Austin Jr.
Odds: 30 percent
5) A.J. Brown to San Francisco
The San Francisco 49ers may not be the contenders they were a couple years ago, but they still believe they have a roster capable of making a deep playoff push. Right now, the 49ers receiver room is decimated with injuries. Ricky Pearsall, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings are all out, so if they want to keep their season going strong, they may need to invest some future assets into the WR position. What makes this more difficult, and ultimately more expensive for the 49ers, is the fact that they’re in the NFC, directly competing against the Eagles.

6) DeVonta Smith to Green Bay
The Green Bay Packers have been searching for a true WR1 for years now. They’ve added some players through the draft, such as Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Matthew Golden, but it feels like a receiver room loaded with WR2s. DeVonta Smith could step in right away and become the leader of that group, so if the Packers feel they need to get Jordan Love some real weapons (which they should), they could cough up a hefty package for the former first-rounder.
