The Chiefs have lost six games for the first time since Mahomes joined the ranks. Still, the team has secured a wild card spot, but Rich Eisen isn’t sure that the Chiefs’ starter and his team could make it to the Lombardi trophy a third time.

The Chiefs have won two Super Bowls in just the last four years. Patrick Mahomes has always taken his team to the playoffs no matter the circumstances. This time around, he is not in his best form and the team’s offense is not showing up at the right time. In the recent addition of The Rich Eisen Show, Eisen pointed out the reasons in detail why Mahomes will be left at the bottom.

Eisen has belief in Mahomes’ capabilities
Debating on a list that named which QB legacy will be most affected by the playoffs. Rich Eisen thinks that out of the 14 QBs that will make the playoffs, “Mahomes will be left off the list or will be way down at the bottom.” He strongly claimed that he can’t “water ski behind” enough yards. Considering Mahomes won a Super Bowl again last year, he made a point, “He should be higher up that list if not at the very top.”

He addressed Chris about legendary Tom Brady who went trophyless for ten years. According to him if he had one more in that time then, “Nobody would be in the galaxy.” He exclaimed that if Mahomes wins this year, it would be unexpected that’s why everyone should be trying to get him. If Mahomes makes it to the end zone, he remarked, “It will be an era dawned and an air of invincibility that nobody thinks can ever get pierced.”

Chris asked if Eisen would be shocked if Mahomes clinched the Super Bowl. Eisen thought for a second and replied, “Why this guy is truly remarkable.” Chris took a jab at Mohomes’ O line, “Have one and a half guys on offense’. Eisen interrupted and gave advice, “All they gotta do is catch the damn football.” Well, the Chiefs’ O-line struggles are not hidden after all.

Patrick Mahomes need a strong support from the offense
The Chiefs’ offensive line is getting massacred in the rushing game. The offense has only crossed the 30-point mark in three out of sixteen regular season games. In the last nine games, they crossed this mark only once. Week 16 loss 20-14 against the Raiders was embarrassing for the team. The team dropped too many catches and this trendsetter could have haunted the team going forward.

The last win against the Joe Burrow-less Bengals has raised some hopes. The Chiefs were lagging in the first half but completely owned the second and showed glimpses of the prowess the team possesses. If Mahomes gets the needed support from the offense, the team can make it through the wild cards. But again, Mahomes had no choice but to scout for options downfield. As Chiefs enter Wildcard, one thing is clear. There is no scope for mistakes.
