I am soooooo glad I did.” A Fox Sports broadcaster wrote this heartfelt final note to his late dad. The veteran sportscaster’s father’s demise was heartbreaking for everyone, and that’s why former Giants star defender Michael Strahan has shared a moment of peace and support with his friend’s family. 

It was the darkest Saturday in Fox announcer Jay Glazer‘s life when he lost his father, Ed Glazer. It was not just a personal loss for Jay, but a loss for the entire football community. Ed had spent his life motivating and supporting his superstar son and passed away at the age of 83. Jay, the No. 1 reporter for FOX Sports, announced his father’s passing with a heartfelt message on Instagram. The NFL community quickly rallied to show their support, and among them was Michael Strahan.

Jay Glazer posted a picture of an empty podium in church on IG Tuesday, and Michael Strahan commented on it with two emojis, “❤️🙏”. Along with former Giants defender Coach Prime, Adam Schefter, Troy Aikman, Maxx Crosby, and countless others sent their condolences to the Glazer family. The Cowboys legend Troy Aikman also showed a great gesture with heart emojis. Coach Prime’s “Praying for you man” message and Schefter’s “A great tribute to a great man.. Sincerest condolences on your loss, Jay” messages gave a feeling of losing someone close to their heart. 

When Jay said, “RIP Ed Glazer, sending you a ton of love, big guy!!! Not a bad ride for a kid from Flatbush, Brooklyn, he made out pretty damn good!” it wasn’t just a message filled with emotion—it was a heartfelt tribute to his father, who stood by him through every step of his journey. In a recent post, Jay offered a final farewell to his dad, remembering him as a guiding light—a lighthouse that illuminated Jay’s path to greatness.

From stadium Sundays to final moments: Jay Glazer remembers his father

Jay shared a photo of an empty podium, draped in black cloth, where the casket lay, capturing his last moments with Ed Glazer. Jay wrote, “Take care, Dad. Beautiful day. Beautiful turnout. I’m sure he loved it. RIP Ed Glazer, Love you big guy.” Though Jay may look peaceful and composed today, when he lost him on Saturday, he couldn’t restrict himself to writing a big note remembering the days of his childhood and the struggling phase of his career. 

“We had a really good goodbye. I get to remember that, which is a gift. Pretty surreal conversation. But I was able to leave him with gratitude,” Jay Glazer shared. “I was able to thank him for taking me to Giants Stadium on Sundays when I was growing up—who would’ve thought those Sundays would lead to my career? I also thanked him for bringing me closer to my Judaism, something he instilled in me at a young age. I’m a very faith-based person, so that truly meant a lot to me.” His father played a great role in his career, indeed.

Before writing these words, Jay expressed how fortunate he felt to have had a final moment with Ed just hours before his passing.
