After Lamar Jackson and Co. bullied the San Francisco 49ers a few weeks ago, it wasn’t a far-fetched idea to think that the Miami Dolphins would face a similar fate against the Ravens. In a 56-19 blowout game, coach Mike McDaniel was reminiscent of what could have been done better by the Miami team instead of how things turned out to be.

He came forward in a presser and addressed the loss as he spoke about his plans for the team. They will be going against the Buffalo Bills soon and will need divisive ways to maneuver around Josh Allen and his team. Safe to say, coach McDaniel is focused on putting his “best foot forward” when they take on the Bills in their upcoming clash.

Mike McDaniel had a lot of self-reflection to do!
The reporter during the press conference addressed the situation with the Dolphins’ players trying to do too much on their own, individually. The “individual” mentality led to a catastrophic loss for the Dolphins and the reporter asked the HC about the best way to get the team together to play more “cohesively”.
“I think you have to rip the band-aid off,” said McDaniel as he mentioned that this game, just like the others, has to be looked at with a different set of eyes. The Ravens’ “orchestration” of the game became a concern and a reason behind the Dolphins’ frustration on the field. This frustration drove them to take individual actions and exacerbate the whole situation tenfold.

It was the Fins’ desperate desire to make a difference on the scoreboard that drove them to take a selfish route to an unachievable victory. However, per the HC, this debacle is just particular to this game and the team is trying to do better as they move on to face the Bills. His strategy seemed to be to implement these learnings into the Bills game and allow the team to play as a unit.

McDaniel then pointed out how the team has been doing a great job as compared to the last season when all they had was a losing streak. “We’ve been able to minimize all the losing streaks to one game,” said McDaniel. For him, the team improving exponentially while taking on cutthroat competition is something that made the Dolphins who they are now, and “not running from it” is the only solution at hand.
For now, he is just focused on the last game of the regular season against the 10-6 Buffalo Bills, their divisional rival.

Will the Bills be able to knock the Dolphins from their pedestal?
The thing is, the Bills are 10-6 right now and on a 4-game winning streak. If they end up winning the game, not only will they rank the highest in their division but will also get a chance in the playoffs. On the other hand, since the last couple of games, the Bills have been playing exceptionally well.

Now, the Dolphins must showcase a similar zeal if they want to grab the divisional title and a chance at the Super Bowl. So, as McDaniel said, the team needs to put their best foot forward in this game to make sure that they have the edge in the AFC East.
