Occasionally, we see superfans who have been the proponents of their teams for the longest time. One such fan was Larry Benjamin, who has been supporting the Detroit Lions for the longest time ever. The Lions Superfan recently garnered the attention of some very influential people, not to mention the fellow spectators themselves.

Larry Benjamin passed away recently and Dov Kleiman broke the news and posted on X, “Heartbreaking: #Lions superfan Larry Benjamin passed away this morning in his sleep, his family announced. RIP 🙏💔.” Benjamin has been in hospital care for some time now and passed away this morning because of COPD.

His son made a post on X thanking the fans who supported him in the Lions’ playoff run. He wrote, “To everyone who supported my dad’s blue hair pursuit of the Lions Super Bowl, know that he is now in peace. He passed away in his sleep earlier this morning. @amonra_stbrown Thanks for all the love!”

The Lions superfan dyed his hair Honolulu blue, following the footsteps of Amon Ra St. Brown. The news got to the Lions WR, and he sent him a jersey with his signature and a special message. “Larry the Man, Keep being a beast. Best fans in the world. One Pride!” wrote St. Brown on the jersey he sent to Benjamin.

Not only St. Brown, but the Lions’ former LB Chris Spielman also gave him a call and offered him support. After Dov Kleiman posted the news on X, it got the attention of a fan who pointed out something rather interesting. The Lions got to the playoffs after 30 years and that had been a highlight for Benjamin as a Lions fan. Just like this Lions fan revered the team so much, the herd made sure that they reciprocated the love.
