The New York Jets haven’t had an ideal season. Currently standing at 5-9, the men in green, suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Miami Dolphins in their latest game. While the momentum among the Jets’ fans had been sparked, thanks to Zach Wilson‘s dominance against Houston Texans, the recent 30-0 defeat has once again put the QB and the HC Robert Saleh under scrutiny.

Consequently, it has raised questions concerning the 44-year-old’s position in the team. However, Robert Saleh did not appear to be much bothered regarding his job security. With many head coaches being fired recently, the heat of the same doesn’t seem to be the concern of the Jets HC. The up-and-down season of the Jets has witnessed both cheers and criticisms. Alas! The latest results have shattered all the hopes of the squad as they suffered a 30-0 defeat against the Dolphins. This has not only eliminated their playoff chances but also escalated the uncertainty concerning the team, especially the head coach Robert Saleh.

However, the coach himself doesn’t seem too worried about the same. Recently, once again, Saleh talked about his future with the New York Jets. When asked about the possibility of him getting fired after the recent loss, the coach surprisingly said ‘No.’ Expressing his own philosophy about his professional life, Saleh mentioned in the interview, “Two types of coaches. Those who have been fired and those who are about to get fired. We coach to win a football game.”

He also remarked how his entire focus will be on the upcoming game against the Commanders. While talking about the team that looked like a “championship roster”, Robert Saleh mentioned, “But at the end of the day, we still have to find ways to win with the guys that are on the football field. We’ve got to better as coaches. We’ve got to be better as players. … It goes all the way across the board.”

Despite the results, Robert Saleh reiterated his confidence in the team. He said, “Love the players that are in that locker room. And we’ve just all got to be a little bit better.” However, it is salient to note that Saleh, in his 3-season tenure with the Jets, has a 16-32 record. Moreover, the experts have pointed out that Jets’ QB and coaching debacle isn’t the only thing that’s holding them from a win.

The $75 million QB Aaron Rodgers and his injury also has been the part of Jets’ underwhelming season. While the star athlete has been more than eager to play and make a comeback, per Saleh, that seems to be less likely now. Rodgers absence and team’s current stats have additionally shown the vulnerability of the Jets’ O-line.

The multifaceted failures of the New York Jets

Currently, the Jets rank 30 in the NFL as far as yardage is concerned and 15 in terms of passing TDs. Also, the O-Line has displayed anything special on the gridiron either. In the game against the Dolphins, the QB Zach Wilson came out with a concussion and was pressured in 80% of his dropbacks. Apart from Wilson, the rest of O-Line have also not been upto the mark. Many a time, they have failed to open up lanes and protect their QBs.

Nonetheless, as the playoffs are out of the reach for the Jets now, the team and Saleh will be looking forward to their next week’s game. Meanwhile, fans will be anticipating Aaron Rodgers to make a comeback. However, the chances of the 40-year-old QB returning without the playoffs berth secured for the Jets seems dubious.
