Oh boy, what a heartbreaker for George Pickens in the Steelers’ season finale against the Bengals! Our guy was just six catches away from a sweet career milestone, but sometimes the football gods have other plans. Despite Russell Wilson serving up plenty of opportunities, Pickens just couldn’t find his groove – managing just one lonely catch all day. With the Steelers falling 19-17, that probably going to replay in his mind like a bad movie until playoff time. Talk about a case of the “what-ifs”! Don’t worry though – as any football fan knows, even the greats have their off days, and there’s always the next game to bounce back!
On 3rd & 12 play with 20 seconds remaining, the quarterback threw the hopes of Steeler Nation to the receiver. But the receiver fell and failed to catch it. He, too, was disappointed. In the post-game conference, Russell Wilson made a bold claim while showing solid support for Pickens. When asked if they could find their connetion before the playoffs, he said, “I believe in George (Pickens). He’s been a star for us all season. He’s going to be a difference maker, obviously, for us in the playoffs.”

That will definitely give confidence to the 23-year-old player. Overall, he has shown moments of strength in the season. In 14 games this season (12 starting), he has 59 receptions in 103 targets with 900 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. That’s good, but he needs to pick this up as the crucial time has begun.
Though Russell Wilson ignored his blunder, he shouldn’t ignore George Pickens talking trash to the fans. After the game, the receiver gestured to fans with his hands while the TE Pat Freiermuth stopped him. It’s not the moment to get angry. It would be great if he could control his anger and make fans happy with a win.
It was the Steelers’ 4th consecutive loss. However, they are into the playoffs. The locker room, the staff, and the fans are looking into the future, with hopes of a better show.

Russell Wilson demands Amnesia from teammates again
On New Year’s eve, the Super Bowl winning QB asked his teammates to practice amnesia. Though they couldn’t and lost their season finale against the Bengals. However, Mr. Unlimited again demanded focus from his locker room and said, “We feel like that if we just do right and look forward to the next moment, that’s got to be the only thing that matters. I think that most importantly; we got to have amnesia going into this and just win the next play, just win the next play, just win the next game. We got to have the best week.”

This is the week of preparation. Mike Tomlin needs to sit with Russell Wilson and watch the tape together. The scoring has dried up. In the last 4 games which they lost, they have not crossed the 20 point mark. After week 17, Pro Football Network ranked their O-line 24th in the league. That’s not a good sign.

Not everything is problematic in the team. They have a solid defense with 4 players included in the AFC Pro Bowl roster. DT Cameron Heyward, LB TJ Watt, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, and kicker Chris Boswell were chosen as the starters. It’s high time to make the alterations. Else Steeler Nation would be disappointed.
