Saquon Barkley has seen everything in his 27 years of life. From being homeless to being the running back drafted in the first round by the New York Giants. But one thing that has been constant in his life has been the support of his father and mother. This has helped him to navigate the tough waters of a professional footballer’s life.
However, Barkley isn’t the only member of the family with athletic genes. But he is the most successful one and while his mother isn’t athletically gifted, her mental fortitude is otherworldly. Let us get to know more about Barkley’s parents.
Saquon Barkley’s first move out of New York

Barkley was born as the middle child of Alibay Barkley and Tonya Johnson’s 3 children. His father and uncle come from a boxing background, but it was the New York Jets games that bound the family together. However, after serving a one-year prison sentence, Papa Barkley decided to move the family out of New York.

During, Alibay’s prison sentence, it was Johnson who held the fort. Even as the family went homeless for a few months. She has gifted this mental strength to her son as well.

The Barkley family moved to Pennsylvania and nurtured Saquon’s football aspirations. He was just five years old when the move happened, but it turned out to be successful. And years later, he went back to the city to play for the Giants. But it seems like Barkley will have to move again!

For the consecutive second year in a row, the Giants and Barkley have failed to renegotiate the player’s contract. And unlike last year, it doesn’t seem he will be franchise-tagged by the Giants. Hence Free agency awaits Barkley as the running back, looks for new teams.
