It’s never an easy task to leave your home, and for Saquon Barkley, it’s definitely not. Barkley is in his new home with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, his heart still beats for his former team, the New York Giants, where he spent his six years.
The Eagles reached an agreement with Barkley, who became a free agent after being released by the Giants. As per the reports, the 27-year-old signed a three-year contract worth $37.75 million. So, while Barkley should be praising the Eagles and fully appreciating their move, the running back finds himself stuck in the memories of the Giants, proving himself still a Giants’ fan, amidst backlashes.

In a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce were joined by Saquon Barkley to talk about his new home, the Eagles, while also remembering the good old days in New York. He expressed, “I haven’t got a chance to really do I’ve been so caught up with obviously looking for houses and the movement and then going back and forth with Giants fans or Tiki [Barber] that I really haven’t like got a chance to be able to like be able to show like how appreciating I am to actually be a Philadelphia Eagle.”

Just a few days back, Barber and Barkley found themselves in online banter, as the former NFL player wasn’t happy with Barkley’s move. So, Barkley, on the podcast, emphasized his love for the team, his desire to compete, and his enjoyment of the team culture. Barkley recalled a memorable football experience when his family attended a playoff game against the Eagles, which reminded him of the vibrant atmosphere at Penn State.
The running back highlighted, “I gotta see it like one of my favorite football experiences outside of losing the game was when we played them in divisional playoffs the year that they lost in Super Bowl like that was a dope experience like my family was there and they got to say like they haven’t had that experience since College like because we went to Penn State and was jumping so I was like I’m just happy to be a part of that culture.”
He further clarified that his sentiments are not meant as a slight harm to Giants fans. However, now he is happy to find his new home after his free agency period. It remains to be seen what advantages Barkley brings to Philly in the next season.

It’s true that Saquon Barkley grew up as an Eagles fan, and now that he will be given a role to play for his childhood favorite, the athlete can elevate the offense of the team. He is a versatile player who can excel in various aspects of the game. He’s skilled at running both inside and out, evading tackles, and catching passes.
Barkley is also effective in pass protection and can contribute as a receiver. The Eagles are counting on Barkley to be heavily involved in their offense, as evidenced by his contract. They believe he will consistently touch the ball around 300 times per season.
