The NFL isn’t taking Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s injury scare lightly. This season, the league has been tightening its rules to better protect players’ safety. Hence, a hefty fine was handed to the Arizona Cardinals‘ safety Budda Baker, who was involved in the incident.

The Cardinals player is fined $17,389 for unnecessary roughness. This was during their second battle against the Seahawks this season. As Smith-Njigba attempted to catch a pass, he took a scary hit to the head from Baker. And thus, the Cardinals’ safety took the fine for a hit on a defenseless player.

The WR was immediately rushed to check for a concussion. Fortunately, it wasn’t serious, and he was cleared to return for the game. And the injury scare didn’t slow the player down.

He caught 5 passes for 93 yards and one touchdown in the game.

On the other hand, Baker, who had returned from a week-long hamstring issue, recorded five tackles, including two solo. He was limited during the practice. This is the first time this season that he saw fewer snaps, as he logged just 90 percent of the defensive snaps.

Just last year, the player signed a three-year extension worth $54 million with $30 million guaranteed. Now, as for the NFL fines, he was the only Cardinals player to receive a fine. The same can’t be said about their Week 11 opponents, as the San Francisco 49ers had a player appear on the list twice.

Linebacker Tatum Bethune was handed a combined fine of $10,893 for Unnecessary Roughness. The Seahawks walked out of the game unscathed in terms of fines. As for injuries, Smith-Njigba did appear on the report. He is listed as “not injury related/resting.”

But will he be cleared for the next game?

Is Jaxon Smith-Njigba available for Week 11?

Much to the fans’ relief, it wasn’t a serious hit by Baker. Although the wide receiver wasn’t given a game status on the injury report, he was a full participant in practice. That is a strong indication he’ll be available for the game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11.

While the WR had an incredible performance in the 44–22 win over the Cardinals, his run of five straight games with at least 100 yards ended. But even with five straight games, he was able to make history. The Seahawks’ receiver is only the eighth player in team history to have back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

He is the 26th player in NFL history to reach 1,000 yards within the first nine games of a season. The WR was a crucial player in helping the Seahawks win the game against the Cardinals. His 43-yard touchdown in the first half helped the team make a strong start that they carried throughout the game.

And the Seahawks will need Smith-Njigba to put up an equally explosive game in Week 11. With a record of 7-2, the team currently sits 1st in the NFC West.
