Just like a lot of other places, a lot is going on with the Seattle Seahawks. They ended the 2023 season on a winning note, yet they still fired their HC Pete Carroll for Mike Macdonald. Now they are making some changes at the QB position, and their actions might yield some fruitful results. Geno Smith suffered a season-ending injury, but it seems like he’s ready to bounce back.
In the wake of all this, the Seahawks figured out how to save some funds and fit Geno Smith into their roster at the same time. Field Yates posted some news on X that might just put a smile on the faces of Seahawks fans. Will the Seattle team reach the playoffs in the upcoming season? Who knows?

Geno Smith is back in the Seahawks’ picture
According to Yates, the Seattle team is restructuring the QB’s deal to fit him into the 2024 roster. The restructuring of the deal means that the Seattle Seahawks are converting his $9.6 million roster bonus into a signing bonus, allowing the team to save $4.8 million in their 2024 cap space.

Not only will this increase the Seahawks’ cap hit in 2025, but it will also allow the management to place appropriate weapons around Smith to make him feel comfortable and win future games. Maybe this move will allow the team to make it in the 2024 postseason after all, as they usher into it with their new head coach, Mike Macdonald.
Before joining the Seattle Seahawks, Macdonald was the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens. Now, at the age of 36, he’s become the youngest head coach in the NFL, beating Jerod Mayo of the New England Patriots. For all we know, the team is headed into the 2024 season with a brand-new enthusiasm, and Macdonald may be the crucial reason behind it.
Mike Macdonald plans to bring the Seahawks to the top
Till Macdonald worked with the Ravens, they led the defense to the greatest number of sacks and picks. They also held the opposition to 16.5 points per game and ranked sixth with yards allowed per game with 301.4. He joined the Ravens for just one season after his brief stint with Michigan.

“We are super excited to be here. Just getting to know John and the rest of the folks, the reputation of this place, what drew us here was the people. That’s why we’re here, to bring a championship back to Seattle and the 12s.” said the HC in the interview.
He also added by saying, “We’re going to have a lot of fun, we’re going to work our tails off, and it’s going to be an incredible ride. We’re going to be here for a long time, and we’re going to win a lot of football games.”
