Following her highly publicized breakup with the Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce, Kayla Nicole has completely changed her stance on dating, joking that she believes in  “dating and hiding.” She is now prioritizing a low-key lifestyle, steering clear of the spotlight and the complications that come with a public relationship. And when she was recently asked about her dating life currently, Nicole shared an update that left her fans completely surprised.

“I’m definitely dating,” said Nicole during an interview with TMZ. “I’m playing the field, though. Single as a ballerina, so if you got somebody 100%. Send him my way. [You got your eye on anybody?] No, everybody has their eye on me. That’s the vibe, that’s the energy I’m giving.”

A year after her breakup with Travis Kelce in 2022, Nicole made it clear that she no longer wants to be in a public relationship following the backlash that followed her highly publicized breakup with the TE.

” You won’t ever see me with a man ever again until I’m married with kids,” Kayla said during an episode of her Pre-Game podcast. 

Nicole’s stance on public relationships does not come without reason. Over the past few years, she has faced a lot of negative impact because of the choice she made in the past, and is now focused on protecting her peace and the people around her from the external noise.

“In reality, I’m protecting me, and I’m protecting you,” she explained. “I don’t think that I ever want to publicly date another man until I am absolutely sure that they are my long-term person. I want to protect the things that mean the most to me, and sometimes when you’re a little too open, and you’re a little too transparent, you open yourself up to a world of opinion, a world of entitlement.”

Kayla Nicole started dating Travis Kelce in 2017 when the TE made the first move and kept liking her pictures until she DM’ed him on New Year’s Eve.

“He had been following me and insta-flirting for a few months,” Kayla had posted on her since-deleted stories.

But in 2020, the couple first broke up, but soon got back together. The former couple’s on-again, off-again relationship then continued for about two years before they eventually broke up in 2022. The break-up was followed by severe allegations that the star TE was forcing Nicole to pay “half of everything.”

In an interview with The Pivot Podcast in 2023, Kelce denied the allegations, adding that, “I would never say that I was supporting her. She had a very financially stable life, and what she was doing in her career.”

Despite the mutual split, backlash against Nicole followed, and her mental health seemingly took a major toll. In September 2023, when Kelce and Taylor Swift went public about their relationship, fans started comparing Kayla’s appearance, wealth, and talent to Swift, and many also kept insulting her.

Kayla has always been open about her mental health struggles and has often admitted how she felt threatened by all the targeting at one point.

“For me, I don’t fear necessarily being canceled because I don’t think people hold that power. However, I’m sensitive. I am triggered,” Nicole admitted, according to Page Six. “I want to clear my name. I want to address it.

“That’s my fear, too, is when I address things, instead of me talking about lived experience, people think it’s just me constantly trying to rehash bulls-it. When in reality, I’m just a human who wants to talk about my life.”

But many have also taken Kayla’s admission as a way of staying in the spotlight and have kept poking her to this date.

“Going through a public breakup, just to be frank, it’s been overwhelming. I’ve never experienced anything like it,” said Nicole [via People magazine]. “I’m a very confident person, but dealing with trolls or just hate online, I constantly feel like I’m in a state of vulnerability. I would love to be in a headspace where I’m just not affected at all.”

It’s been years since the former couple went their separate ways, and yet the backlash doesn’t stop. But Kayla appears to be unfazed, as she is focused on building her career in the entertainment sphere. Meanwhile, the Chiefs’ tight end and Swift have been busy preparing for their upcoming wedding.

The wedding is reportedly scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, and perfectly fits into Kelce’s NFL offseason schedule between mandatory team minicamps and training camp. However, when it comes to location, there have been constant shifts.

Meanwhile, earlier rumors suggested that the wedding would be at Swift’s Ocean House estate in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. However, sources close to the singer are now reporting that the plans have allegedly shifted to Madison Square Garden (MSG) in Midtown Manhattan to accommodate a much larger guest list and ensure maximum security.

Given how private they want to keep their wedding, the new venue reportedly gives them “zero windows” for paparazzi to shoot through. Also, the wedding is reportedly expected to be a grand affair costing around $20 million, with an estimated guest list between 1,100 and 1,200 guests.
