The Miami Dolphins have allowed opponents to score more than 30+ points in each of the three games they’ve played so far. Naturally, Mike McDaniel‘s defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver, is calling for a change in approach.

I may sit up here. I’m a nice guy. I smile. I do all those things,” Weaver began. But all of our problems that we need to solve can be solved through violence. They want to legislate it out of the game, but we play defensive football. And in defensive football, at some point you draw a line of sand and you say, ‘I’m going to set the edge.'” Well, the DC has spent almost a decade working in defenses of NFL teams. But if he is telling you to be more violent, that’s certainly a call to change.

When asked about this after Friday, September 27 practice, their $73 million star Minkah Fitzpatrick also agreed with DC’s demand. He replied, “We’ve got to be in a position where we can play fast. I think when you’re playing slow, you’re not able to be violent. You’re more reactionary than being aggressive. We’re in a position to play downhill, put our shoulder pads on people, knock the ball off of people. I think that’s when we get that violence that he’s talking about.

This is not the first time Mike McDaniel’s men are being flagged for not being tough enough.

In November 2024, their former safety DeShon Elliott called the 2023 team “soft as f—.” HC Mike McDaniel tried to brush it off, claiming he was not focused on the past. Yet, he now finds himself in a situation that is all too familiar.

It’s not like the defense hasn’t had its moments, having recorded 6 sacks and 138 solo tackles (224 total) so far. But collectively, they just haven’t clicked as a unit, allowing 4.5 yards per carry (23rd in the league).

The Dolphins are going in for a wild ride. And everyone is calling for some physical action. Will that change their stance during the games? Let’s wait to watch that happen in action!

Mike McDaniel confirms star’s 2025 debut

The passion has slowly been fading,” said TE Darren Waller when he suddenly decided to retire following a major health scare. The NY Giants were in shock. But an even bigger shocker happened this year when the Dolphins announced that the star is coming back, and they signed him up.

Waller began training under the PUP list. But a hip injury suffered and then aggravated just 5 days before the season began had kept him away from game time. On September 27, however, HC Mike McDaniel looked positive about his TE’s availability for the Week 4 game as he said, “(Darren Waller)looks firmly ready to contribute, which is why he will play in the game.

That’s a big boost. Especially when their offense has failed to cross the 30-point mark in any game until now, even scoring just 8 point in the season opener. Before taking temporary retirement, Waller posted 552 receiving yards and one touchdown in 12 games with the New York Giants.
