Shedeur Sanders started off his rookie mini-camp on a high note, surprising everyone with his shelling in the end zone. The former Colorado QB is under the shadow of Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. He is not holding back from showing off his strength. After the mini-camp started, the Browns also posted a video of Shedeur making a superb pass towards the end of the field. This type of performance would help him eclipse other QBs in the room. But, you know, while Shedeur is gearing up for his first rookie year, there is one setback hit the 23-year-old QB.
The Browns franchise held an interview with Shedeur after the first day of minicamp. After asking many questions, the interviewer asked Shedeur one last question, one directly related to his 1st setback with the $5.1B franchise. At this point, everyone knows Shedeur was given a different jersey number than his college jersey. He has swapped his college football #2, which was retired this year, with a #12. So, the reporter asked what it is that he wants Browns fans to be thinking when they see the number 12?
And Shedeur replied, “I’m here to work and win. I think everything off the field is going to handle itself. On the field, of course, that’s why I want my personality, and that’s what I want to be known for is the one that came here and changed the franchise.” His voice had a conviction. Actually, before this interview, Shedeur’s colleague had expressed feelings that perfectly described Sanders’s true feelings on jersey numbers.

But before getting into his teammate’s honest reaction to the jersey swap, it’s worth noting that fans are trolling the Browns hard right now. Many expected former Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders to take No. 2, since it was thought to be available. So who ended up with it—and how did Shedeur’s teammate respond? The answer caught a lot of people off guard.
The jersey number snub for Shedeur Sanders
ESPN Cleveland Browns’ Brad Stainbrook, who is also known as Boogie Knight, reacted to the snub. He has been close to Shedeur and has also been a member of his social media team. He bashed the Browns as the No. 2 was given to wide receiver DeAndre Carter instead of Shedeur, even if it was available. Then, after the official announcement, Boogie Knight reacted to the jersey snub, which was considered a response from Shedeur.

Did the Browns make a mistake by not giving Shedeur Sanders his iconic #2 jersey?
Have an interesting take?
Boogie Knight said, “There’s no way the Cleveland Browns should’ve given #2 to anyone else—especially to a WR who’s never worn it before. But we expected it, so we’re not flinching. Take it, smile, then make it legendary. Keep going.” It was a special number for Shedeur as the University of Colorado honored the 23-year-old QB and Colorado’s double sword, Travis Hunter, by retiring their jerseys.
So, there will be a new start for Shedeur Sanders in his first year in the NFL. It’s a fresh chapter, and with it comes new challenges and opportunities. Sometimes, life takes unexpected turns, but those detours often lead to greater growth and future success. Every step, even the tough ones, can be part of a bigger plan for your betterment. Wishing Shedeur all the best as he adapts to the league—his work ethic and talent speak for themselves.
