Shedeur Sanders is in a room full of three giants and one rookie, but his spot is still not fixed. The Browns must be in a state of dilemma where they must be deciding between either Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett for the QB1 spot. Or in the other case, Kevin Stefanski can pull up a trick and introduce a rookie player, that is, any one between Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur. But there is too much competition between Sanders and Gabriel for a spot. But hold on for a bit. In a recent report, an NFL insider has revealed a shocking observation and evaluation of both rookie QBs.

The Browns held a rookie mini-camp for two days. Shedeur Sanders’s presence at the mini-camp raised questions, given Dillon Gabriel’s expected starting role. According to NBC Sports, he was chosen to take the reps ahead of Sanders, making his future prediction weak. But there is a silver lining to it if you are Sanders and want him to surpass Gabriel to get either the backup spot or the QB1 position.

An  NFL insider and Browns beat writer, Zac Jackson, reported during the Browns rookie camp that, “Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders has looked much better than rookie QB Dillon Gabriel so far at camp.” This gives a sudden turn to the talks of Gabriel going to outperform and outdo Sanders. After starting off the camp, the Browns also released a video of Shedeur “dropping a bomb” on the field. They shared the video on their official X handle, where Shedeur completed his very long pass.

But you know, there are more characters in the story, which makes Shedeur’s future, in fact, Gabriel’s future, also hazy. On May 8, MMQB and SI’s Albert Breer reported that there is a very high chance Joe Flacco can get the first few snaps in Sept and Oct. He also said that Shedeur Sanders or Gabriel could get a chance to be the backup QB. But man, we are talking all this assuming that Deshaun Watson won’t be there.

Watson, who led the Browns in 7 games in 2024, has re-ruptured his Achilles and is going through a recovery. But while he is recovering faster, the 2024 season QB1 has already sent a strong message to his doubters that he will be back in 2025. Well, if that happens, then Joe Flacco’s spot could be in trouble. Alright, let’s see how the next three months unfold. But while we are approaching a crucial time of the offseason, Kevin Stefanski faced a major setback.

“Jeremiah’s health is of the utmost importance to us, and although he has made progress towards recovery, we’ve made the decision to place him on Reserve/PUP, which means he will not play football during the 2025 season.” This is what Browns GM Andrew Berry said in his statement on Monday. Before this neck injury, he had only three injuries. Firstly, on October 17, 2021, he had his first injury of his career, which was a pedal ankle injury. Then, on October 23, 2022, he had a sprain in his knee before having a pedal foot injury on December 11, 2022. But the 2024 injury was brutal.

He played only eight games in the season. In those 8 games, he managed to tackle 61 offensive players, out of which 39 are solo tackles. Jeremiah has not made any comment on his future yet. Let’s see how he sees his future in the NFL.
