While the ex-NFLer was happy about his players, his son’s draft made him anxious. When Shedeur Sanders was not getting drafted, a video showed the father-son duo talking when he said, “I know what’s going on. I like to have hope and I trust God.” However, everything ended well.

Shedeur Sanders receives an apology for the prank call

Shedeur had a tough draft. When he went undrafted until the fourth round, he was understandably disappointed. To make matters worse, someone prank-called him, pretending to be the Saints’ GM. Later, it was revealed that the person behind the prank was a friend of Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.

Jax got Shedeur’s number from an open iPad while visiting his father’s home and wrote it down. However, on Sunday, April 27, Jax called Shedeur and apologized for the entire incident. Things are starting to look up for the young signal-caller.

He also wrote on Instagram, “Shedeur, what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing and shameful. I’m so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.” They called Shedeur Sanders before the 40th overall pick by the Saints GM Mickey Loomis.

The interesting part was that he received the call on the phone given one day before, with number given to only NFL teams. But the Saints drafted the Luisville QB Tyler Shough instead. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was angry, calling such people ‘moron.’

Falcons DC Jeff Ulbrich has promised full cooperation to the NFL authorities over this matter. The franchise also issued an apology. But it does put a question mark on how much the NFL policies are actually followed. Colts tight end Tyler Warren, the 14th overall pick, also received a similar call at no. 7 pick by the Jets. Was Jax Ulbrich behind that as well? It’s a mystery.
