Deion Coach Prime Sanders has always kept his children close. Call it family values or an inbuilt desire to control their careers, he kept his sons, safety Shilo Sanders and QB Shedeur Sanders at Jackson State Tigers in 2021 and 2022. But when he moved to the Colorado Buffaloes as their head coach, he took both of them with him. That’s how he feels and carries his responsibility as a father. But things have changed in the league. And he learned the reality this year the hard way. His younger son slid to the 3rd day before the Browns drafted him in the 5th round. His elder son went undrafted.
Strange fact! Deion was the agent of both sons. Shilo Sanders learned his lesson from the failure. And once his brother got drafted, he was out in the market to find the best agent. His search ended with the famous deal broker, Drew Rosenhaus. The famous New Jersey native has handled over $10 billion in contracts. That’s mammoth!
“Dad was our agent, but that hasn’t been working out too good. So today I had to sign with an agent,” he said, rather light-heartedly, on the 3rd day of the livestream. Shilo Sanders also explained how his crucial day passed, “I was on the stream because I streamed the whole draft. So I was like, ‘Alright y’all, I got to go talk to (my father), I got to go get on a team real quick, I’ll be right back.’ So I left.”

However, showing he was as good as his record, Rosenhaus called a little while later and informed him about the Buccaneers deal. The safety did a little dance in secret before telling him that he was grateful for the chance. That’s right! Both brothers will be playing in the league. But they will likely not face off against each other in 2025 as the Browns don’t have a regular-season game against the Bucs.
In the end, it was a strategic move that paid off well for Shilo. The rookie also thanked the GM Jason Licht and coach Todd Bowles.
Shilo Sanders expresses his admiration for Todd Bowles
The Bucs head coach could feel the sentiments of Deion Sanders. Among his sons, Todd Jr. plays for Long Island, and the other, Troy, transferred from Georgia to Michigan this year. So, once they drafted him, Bowles called up Shilo Sanders, revealing their plans.

The elder Sanders sibling also showed his love for the head coach and said, “To have a guy like that, that I could just go talk to whenever and learn football and he also helped me get this opportunity. And I just want to make everybody proud, especially coach Bowles.” Bowles also talked to Coach Prime about their vision for Shilo Sanders.
Overall, the rookie is confident and ready to leave his mark. In the rookie minicamp, he caught attention by behaving like he was a veteran. The fans are pumped up! The Bucs HC was impressed with his footwork, calling it, “maybe the most impressive” among the rookie safeties. Stage is set for the young man.
