About a million viewers had tuned in as Shilo and Shedeur Sanders live-streamed the three-day draft on Twitch. Some were their fans, and some were simply there to survey the damage done by Shedeur’s downward spiral in the draft. After all, the family had to wait until round five to hear the younger brother get picked by the Browns. Witnessing this, Shilo knew he might go undrafted, so he made an important call that saved his professional career!
“Dad was our agent, but that hasn’t been working out too good,” Shilo joked during the livestream. “So today I had to sign with an agent.” So the safety hired Drew Rosenhaus. Yes, the same agent who has negotiated over 10 billion dollars in contracts and is called ‘Shark’ for a good reason. The agent made some quick moves and informed NFL teams that he was representing Shilo. He contacted Bucs general manager Jason Licht and coach Todd Bowles, asking if they wanted to sign him. They agreed, and that’s how the player signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent. And let us just say, Shilo couldn’t have been happier!
“I was on the stream because I streamed the whole draft… So I was like, ‘Alright y’all, I got to go talk to [my father], I got to go get on a team real quick, I’ll be right back.’ So I left. As soon as I walked down the stairs, my agent called and said, ‘Bucs offering you a contract.’ And I think I did the Dougie [dance] for about 15 minutes. But I’m just so grateful for the opportunity for them, give me this chance when nobody else would at that time,” Shilo told ESPN, and it grateful for the opportunity he has been given.

“I’m forever grateful to the Buccaneers, and I’m just going to do everything I can to help this team win. Everything in my power to help this team win, and that’s all I want,” he said. And it seems he is keeping his promise. During practice, the safety caught Bowles’ eye owing to his football IQ and his loud presence. The HC has heard him make calls and get a good grasp of their plays. In fact, Shilo is going above and beyond; He won’t let the smallest details slip. He is becoming a locker room favorite in his own way.
“I’m going to be the snack guy, so we just going to get a wholesale. I’m going to have everything everybody needs,” the player laughed. “The meetings are really long, so I understand. … I might have a little spreadsheet with everybody’s favorite stuff on there. You know what I’m saying.” It looks like he will soon end up being everyone’s number one buddy!

“I have to bring my own [snacks]. I got to make sure that the vets are good. You know what I’m saying? Because they really been helping me and teaching me a lot of stuff. I’m really grateful for that. So that’s the least I can do.” Well, Shilo is correct here. Tampa Bay could use more safety depth behind Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tykee Smith. While Bowles, who is a former safety, will be good for developing Shilo, Winfield has also connected with him to give him some pointers on whom to connect with on the coaching staff.

Shilo Sanders expresses his admiration for Todd Bowles!
The Bucs head coach could feel the sentiments of Deion Sanders when he called up to show his gratitude. Among his sons, Todd Jr. plays for Long Island, and the other, Troy, transferred from Georgia to Michigan this year.
However, it is not just ‘Coach Prime’ who admires Bowles. Shilo, too, had some great things to say about the coach who gave him big hope. “To have a guy like that, that I could just go talk to whenever and learn football and he also helped me get this opportunity.”
“Him [Bowles] and my dad got on the phone right after I signed, and he told ’em that they was interested in me and they can’t wait to see what I can do here — and I just want to make everybody proud, especially coach Bowles.”
