The Dallas Cowboys were initially winning, but they lost that lead after a ‘controversial’ call. For more than 30 quarters, the best pass rusher in the NFL hasn’t had a holding penalty called against an opponent trying to block him. This situation remained likewise in the Cowboys’ Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins.

It was an equal competition between the two groups at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. However, in the end, the Phins pulled out a victory from the jaws of the Cowboys, leading to their 11 wins on the scoreboard. The significant moment was winning the game for Miami. But the moment which highlighted, or arguably impacted, the Cowboys’ game, was Micah Parsons’ penalty and outburst on the field. And as usual, Skip Bayless, who threw away Parson’s jersey in the trash last week, commented on the linebacker’s anger.

Skip Bayless on Micah Parsons

The NFL analyst and commentator, Skip Bayless, is known for venting out his thoughts and frustration mostly during game hours. This time again, Bayless took a jab on Cowboys’ linebacker, Micah Parsons. The 72-year-old sports columnist playfully tweeted, “Wish Micah would exert as much energy stopping the run as he did complaining about that call.

Bayless wished Parsons would have contributed his energy to the defensive efforts against the Phins’ running plays. This tweet came after Parsons, in the second quarter, received “roughing the passer penalty,” even though his hit on Tua Tagovailoa was within the rules. Parsons came in from the blindside, and hit the Phins’ QB a moment after he threw the ball, which is allowed as long as it’s not done in a harmful way such as hitting on head.

Soon after that, the linebacker got frustrated with the call and started arguing with the referee. His teammate, DeMarcus Lawrence, had to intervene to keep Parsons from arguing with the referee. However, as the NFL rules have become stricter than the previous years, Parsons might find himself in trouble after arguing with the refs.

Will there be a fine on Parsons?

A while back, the NFL clarified that players face fines only when they go beyond criticizing a bad call and directly accuse the officials of being corrupt. However, recent incidents in the league have shown that the NFL cannot be merciful every time. As the league fined Patrick Mahomes ($50,000) and coach Andy Reid ($100,000) for their sideline meltdown directed at the refs in their Week 14 game, Micah Parsons can potentially face a similar situation after his Week 16 argument with the officials.

However, no official statement has been released, and Parsons’ fans are hopeful that it won’t happen to him. Nevertheless, this penalty impacted the Cowboys’ game in some way, as the call, made on third down with less than a minute left in the game, granted Miami another chance to continue their offensive drive.

As a result, they managed to score a touchdown a few plays later, allowing them to take the lead. The Dolphins won the game 22-20 against Dallas.
