The Philadelphia Eagles’ complacency finally got the best of them. Out of all the teams, it was the New York Giants who humbled the Philly team in a 27-10 blowout game. Half of those points in the Eagles book didn’t come till the late 3 quarter. The team has now lost 5 out of their last 6 games and are seed 5 in the NFC after clinching a wild card.

In the wake of this game, Skip Bayless came forward and added more fuel to the fire. This time he strayed further from his usual shenanigans and pointed out something significant that he said at the start of this season. A few days ago, Nick Wright pointed out a couple of shortcomings of the Philly team and mentioned how their “defense is cooked”. The statement certainly came true today.

The self-proclaimed biggest Cowboys fan pointed out how he saw through the Eagles’ defense at the start of the season. The underlying cause of concern for the Eagles has been their defense. They gave away 27 points today since the very start of the game. Bayless’ assessments were somewhere along these lines. He also predicted that the team in green might also lose one of their two remaining games, but the loss to the Cardinals was unsuspected.

“I predicted on Undisputed that the Eagles would lose one of their two remaining games to the Giants. I did not predict they would lose at home to Arizona. But I said from the start of the season the Eagles were overrated and torchable on defense.”

The Eagles’ defense was indeed “torchable”. However, it was not just the defense that was horrible, their offense didn’t do wonders either. At this point, the fans were upset, not to mention the chaos that might have ensued in the locker room.

Moreover, Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown were removed from the game due to their injuries. The New Year was not what the Eagles expected at all.

Jalen Hurts and the Birds piling on injuries amid lackluster offense

The Eagles pulled AJ Brown out of the field after he sustained a knee injury after catching a slant pass. Nick McCloud, who landed on the WR’s knee, took him down, causing an early ejection. He grabbed his right knee, got up somehow, and went for a diagnosis in the medical tent. He had 1 reception over 9 yards before getting ruled out of the game.

That’s not all. In the first half of the game, Jalen Hurts injured his middle finger trying to evade the defender after he made a pass. He was seen exiting the field with a wonky finger. The QB returned shortly after with his middle finger taped. He was replaced later by Marcus Mariota. Before heading out, the QB had 7 out of 16 completed passes over 55 yards.

The Eagles had only two opportunities to score today, with one coming from Jake Elliott over a 36-yard field goal in the 3 quarter. Another TD came from Quez Watkins with a 16-yard pass from Marcus Mariota. The Giants, on the other hand, ravaged the Birds and went out with a bang.

One take at a time

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
