After the Kansas City Chiefs‘ second consecutive victory in the Super Bowl, Jason Kelce celebrated his brother Travis’ victory all through the night in Vegas. During the celebrations, the Philadelphia Eagles’ center was photographed partying with a luchador mask. The owner of the mask has now come forward to demand it back!

The young Chiefs fan came on GMA to convey the request to Kelce, saying that it was his lucky charm and that the mask is needed to ensure future Chiefs wins. It seems that the message was relayed to the right ears! The Eagles’ center had previously discussed the mask with his brother on their podcast and now has launched a “Get Elijah His Mask Back” operation for the mission.

Elijah Smith, an eighth grader from Dallas, offered his “lucky” mask to Kelce for a picture together, post Chiefs’ win over the San Fransisco 49ers. But in the hustle-bustle of the post-victory celebrations, Smith lost sight of Kelce in the crowd and also his favorite mask. Unfortunately, the mask was lost amidst the revelry on the dance floor, and Kelce apologized to the passionate little Chiefs fan for the same.

In the podcast with his brother, New Heights, Jason admitted that he found the mask lying on the dancefloor during the afterparty. He expressed how putting it on gave him new energy, and he partied wearing it through the night.

“It didn’t start getting to the next level until I found that luchador mask. Initially, when I first got there, you (Travis) were trying to get me to go up on the stage with you, and I was like, ‘Nah, I’m gonna be over here. This is your guys’ time.’ There’s something about finding that luchador mask that really just transformed the night.”

Kelce’s celebrations for his brother’s wins this season have been iconic. So its not surprising that his photographs partying with the luchador mask during the Super Bowl afterparty went viral on social media. This caught the attention of Elijah Smith, and the young fan decided he needed to come forward.

Smith feels the mask is essential for Chiefs’ wins

Smith came on GMA with his parents, Thad and Sarah, to talk about his missing mask, which the young fan feels is “lucky.” Investigating the missing mask case, Smith said, “I saw videos on Instagram this week of him wearing it at the next afterparty he went to, so he clearly never took it off the whole night,”

The family revealed that the mask has an autograph from Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie. Smith believes that the autographed ask brings good luck to the Chiefs and that the team would score a touchdown every time the eighth grader wears it. So, Smith wears to every big game of the Chiefs.

Elijah’s father conveyed his son’s message through the interview, saying, “The only thing is Jason, if you’re listening, we just need the mask back before the season starts. It’s a lucky mask, and so the Chiefs need the luck. I’m sorry we’re not Eagles fans.”

The Smiths also clarified that they harbor no ill will towards Kelce and are happy to see their mask be a part of the Super Bowl victory celebration. But they hope that they get the mask before the next season for the Chiefs kicks off. Elijah has one simple wish: “It would be pretty cool if he autographed it and sent it back.”
