Aaron Rodgers‘ retirement might have disappointed fans, but it seems like he still has strength in his throwing arm. While he recently confirmed that the ongoing season would mark an end to his 21-year-long career, Atlanta Falcons legend Brett Favre shared a bold verdict on the 41-year-old’s current stats. According to him, Rodgers still has enough potential to make things work despite the hindering factors, including age and building competition.

“I think Aaron has played well. Last week he didn’t play, he acknowledged that after his best, and they lost. But they’ll be in the playoffs. That probably wasn’t their division, and if he stays healthy, he’s still got a lot, tons of potential, and can beat you with any throw,” he said in a recent episode of the 4th and Favre podcast.

Rodgers recently confirmed that the 2025 season will be his final run in the NFL. The 41-year-old quarterback signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers and stated that the decision was made with the intention of closing his career “with a lot of love and fun and peace.”

Rodgers appeared firm in his decision to retire despite speculation that he would extend his career beyond the 2025 season. However, the Steelers would consider bringing him back in 2026 because his presence resulted in immediate stability. This also bridged the gap left by a lengthy search for a reliable starter. While many still believe in his potential, Rodgers had a different view about his recent performance.

Aaron Rodgers admits to facing struggles amid the ongoing season with the Steelers

Aaron Rodgers admitted to the fact that he has been struggling this season as the Steelers continue to face challenges. Rodgers recorded his lowest completion percentage in five years and threw two interceptions in their loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The team’s performance was disrupted on downs, and Rodgers himself acknowledged it was not up to his regular standards.

“This was not my best performance. I got to play better than this for us to win. Whatever it takes, if it’s better checks, if it’s better throws, whatever it is, I got to play better. I will! We got to play better on offense, for sure. But this is part of the season. There’s ebbs and flows, there’s ups and downs, and we can’t ride the wave,” Rodgers said, as reported by ESPN.

Rodgers’ admission came during a serious situation for the Steelers. The team is holding onto its lead in the AFC North after a dominant 34-12 victory over the Bengals. This improved their record to 6-4 and therefore ended a two-game skid in the process. While Rodgers suffered a wrist injury during the week 11 game, it still remains to be seen if he recovers before the upcoming clash against the Chicago Bears.
