As the playoff race heats up in the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers have announced a major decision about QB1 Aaron Rodgers ahead of the game against the Buffalo Bills. After a Week 12 loss, the playoff hopes are in jeopardy. In light of this, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed whether Rodgers will play in their upcoming game.

“Status, he was a full participant today with no designation to the game, so it’s all systems go,” Mike Tomlin confirmed, as reported by ESPN‘s Brooke Pryor.

Rodgers’ confirmed appearance will come shortly after he suffered a fracture on his left wrist in the Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The 41-year-old had two limited practices before the Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears and was questionable entering the weekend, and was ultimately inactive after Tomlin decided Saturday to start backup Mason Rudolph.
This week, Rodgers wasn’t available for the team’s Wednesday practice but was a full participant on Thursday and Friday. Mike Tomlin further revealed that the 41-year-old seemed more comfortable coming out of this recovery after missing the previous game.
“Just more reps certainly, but certainly it’s another week,” said Tomlin, as reported by ESPN. “And so I’m sure there’s more comfort there — not only in him, but in the medical experts.”

In 10 games this season, Rodgers has completed over 66% of his passes for nearly 2,000 yards while throwing 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. With a win on Sunday, the Steelers will retake sole possession of the AFC North after the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.
Alongside their QB1, the Pittsburgh Steelers will also see the return of a few more key players against the Buffalo Bills.

Who are the other Steelers injury returners for Week 13?
Aaron Rodgers isn’t the only player returning from injury ahead of the game against the Buffalo Bills for the Steelers. After being away from action over the last two games because of a pectoral injury, outside linebacker Alex Highsmith is set to play in Sunday’s game. Highsmith has recorded 5 ½ sacks, 10 QB hits, six tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a batted-down pass in seven games this season.
“It feels great to know I’m back,” Highsmith said after Friday’s practice. “It’s definitely been frustrating, this season regarding injuries, and then especially last year, too. I’m glad to be back in the lineup. I’m just grateful. I’ve really just been trying to dominate what I can control, dominate being the best teammate, dominate rehab every single day.”

Two other Steelers starters, receiver DK Metcalf and cornerback Joey Porter Jr., were also cleared to play after their injury layoffs. Now with these reinforcements, the Steeler nation would hope to lock down the top spot in the AFC North.
