Chris Godwin’s wife is unhappy with how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are treating her husband. WR Godwin scored a touchdown in a recent game against the Panthers, but it wasn’t from a catching pass. In response to inquiries about Godwin’s performances, coach Todd Bowles attributed them all to his injuries. This explanation, amid rumors about his termination, led to disapproval from Godwin’s wife.

The last game’s score was when the Bucs wide receiver ran the ball into the end zone on an end-around play. Although it’s positive that he scored, this type of scoring play has been infrequent for him this season. In the same game, Godwin didn’t make any catches despite being targeted three times, suggesting a decrease in his involvement in the offense as the season progresses. So, when Bowles was questioned about why Godwin didn’t get many passes on Monday, he pointed to injuries that limited his time on the field as the reason. However, Godwin’s wife didn’t seek this answer, and she reportedly exposed the HC’s “blatant” fabrication.

Chris Godwin’s wife, Mariah Godwin, appeared quite upset with the Bucs’ head coach, Todd Bowles, accusing him of “blatantly lying” about Godwin’s injury status to justify the limited targets the WR received against the Panthers last weekend.

She expressed her frustration by highlighting Bowles’ “termination” situation, saying, “Stop lying on Chris, stop using the injuries (that he plays through!!) as an excuse for whatever you have going on coaching wise.” Furthermore, Mariah also shared a screenshot of Godwin’s total snaps per week, drawing a comparison between the fake and reality.

She went on to explain, “I’m not sure why we are just blatantly lying here. Regardless of how banged up Chris is, he continues to work his a** off.” She emphasized Godwin’s never missing a game and his continued ability to run great routes and get open.

For Mariah, this alleged lying about Chris implies negativity about his work ethic, and that’s enraging. But what has happened to Godwin, and what Bowles said infuriated Godwin’s wife?

The seasoned wide receiver, Chris Godwin, has been getting a good number of passes thrown his way this season, but the results haven’t matched the expectations. In the first 12 games, he caught 53 passes out of 85 targets for 606 yards and a TD. Despite a strong performance in some earlier games, he hasn’t been as prominent in recent ones.

There are a few reasons for this, including the quarterback favoring other options and the offensive coordinator not using Godwin strategically. In the last game, coach Todd Bowles mentioned Godwin’s injury as a reason for reducing the play time, stating that he’s a bit banged up. The Bucs have been placing listed restrictions on Godwin due to his knee and elbow injuries. Despite this, Godwin made a significant play, scoring a touchdown in the Panthers game.

On the other hand, Bowles, himself has his short-term future with the Buccaneers, due to his inability to control his players. However, he doesn’t seem to be at risk of losing his job, at least for the next five games, which includes matchups against teams in the NFC South that haven’t been performing exceptionally well.
