The Super Bowl kickoff is just a few hours away. And each player on either team would love to win it. Each quarterback will have the desire to throw the winning ball. Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy are similar in that arena. However, one starkly distinct thing is their salaries.

Purdy, the “Mr. Irrelevant” of the 2022 NFL Draft, is all but set to write away the stories of underpayment. A Super Bowl win will be a cherry on top, and a Super Bowl win against one of the best and highest-paid quarterbacks will be double cherries on top!

Mahomes and Purdy battle it out

Mahomes is one of the best-paid QBs and has also justified his worth. With the Chiefs in their worst form over the years, Mahomes has dragged them by their cuffs to the Super Bowl. So it should not come as a surprise that Mahomes is also the most-paid quarterback to win the Super Bowl in terms of salary cap by their team.

Last year’s victory over the Philadelphia Eagles made Mahomes win 17.2% of the salary of the entire cap, the most in modern history. The 28-year-old surpassed Tom Brady’s Super Bowl win in 2021 with the Bucs. Brady’s salary was 12.6% of the team’s salary cap.

Purdy also has a chance to break Brady’s salary cap record, albeit from the bottom of the list. Brady’s 2002 win with the Patriots accounted for only 0.46 percent of the team’s cap. If Purdy takes home the Lombardi Trophy, he’ll break that record with a mere 0.37 percent of the franchise total. However, the issue of Purdy’s payment and salary will be behind him, win or lose!
