Taylor Swift’s weekend was one for the record books, literally. Her Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl movie event dominated the U.S. box office with an estimated $33 million domestic opening, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And it wasn’t just her film making headlines. It was also about her impending marriage to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

With marriage on the horizon, speculation quickly grew that Swift might step away from her music career. A theory she was quick to crush during a BBC Radio 2 interview with Scott Mills. Scott Mills opened the conversation with what many fans were wondering. “Taylor, don’t tell me this is your last album.” Swift, clearly taken aback, fired back with a laugh, “What? No. Absolutely not. It is not the last album. It’s not why people get married… so that they can quit their job.”

The pop icon made it clear she’s not slowing down, not for marriage, not for motherhood, and certainly not for public speculation. Mills added, “I just saw some fans going, ‘Well, she’s going to get married, and then she’s going to have children, and then it’s going to be the last album.’”

To which Swift replied: “A shockingly offensive thing to say… But it’s like, I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music.”

That love and mutual respect, she explained, is exactly what makes her relationship with Kelce work. “That’s the coolest thing about Trav—he’s so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do connects us. There’s no point where he’s going to be like, ‘I’m upset you’re still making music.”

Mills laughed: “Can you imagine?” Swift responded with her trademark wit. “The music thing that I signed up for that I knew you love, I thought you were going to stop doing that.”

Beyond her relationship, Swift’s career remains laser-focused. The 14-time Grammy winner reminded fans earlier this year that she now owns 100% of her music catalog. From her master recordings to concert films and unreleased tracks. That independence came after years of battles with her former label, Big Machine Records, and Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings.

Her words on BBC Radio only reaffirmed what fans already knew. Taylor Swift is stepping further into her music career. Though she hasn’t started planning the wedding yet, Swift did hint while appearing on The Graham Norton Show on Oct. 3 that the proposal in August 2025 was the culmination of “a long, beautiful chapter.” On August 26, Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post that read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

“He really crushed it when it came to surprising me,” Swift revealed. Recalling how Kelce popped the question, the very same day they recorded her New Heights podcast episode. That kind of secret planning feels right out of a romantic movie. One that’s now leading straight to a real-life fairytale wedding. While the couple hasn’t confirmed where they’ll say “I do.” Early speculation points to Swift’s $17.5 million oceanfront mansion in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.

A place already mythologized through her Folklore track “The Last Great American Dynasty”—might just host the most anticipated wedding of the decade.

Of course, a Swift-Kelce wedding wouldn’t be complete without a guest list stacked with A-listers. Expect names like Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, Ed Sheeran, Zoe Kravitz, Sophie Turner, and Kane Brown. Kelce’s crew won’t be left out either. His family and his childhood friends have become part of Swift’s circle, and his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, for whom Kelce once served as groomsman, could easily return the favor.

Whether it’s a private coastal affair or something grander, one thing’s certain: the world will be watching. Because when Taylor Swift turns a love story into real life, it’s a cultural event.
