“I know I’ll be the best cornerback in the league pretty soon. Very confident.” Terrion Arnold, who had a terrific season with the Lions in 2024, said this after losing to the Commanders in playoffs. Having dominated the league by 15-2, Arnold was not able to accept the fact that the Commanders were the better team on Jan 19. The Lions CB said that the Commanders did nothing special, echoing the disappointment felt by every Lions fan. While the wounds of that loss were still fresh, the 21-year-old rookie faced an unexpected turn of events the next morning when he almost killed himself.

One major reason Arnold flourished in the 2024 season was that he was available for almost every game, barring one game that he missed due to injury. And the rookie CB is already looking forward to the next season. However, just five days after the crushing loss to the Commanders, Arnold was in for a rough morning. Just think, random things, and in extension, just life happening to random people. And if you’re a Detroit Lions fan, this is surely going to be a déjà vu moment!

Remember former WR Nate Burleson’s 2013 pizza mishap where Nate literally broke his arm in two places in a single-car crash while trying to save a pizza before it fell off a seat in his car? Don’t lose it yet though because, unlike Nate’s greatest non-contact injury for the Mane Gang, Terrion did make it out safely in the end. So, what exactly happened?

In the viral video, the cornerback is seen early in the morning, using his mobile phone. But he didn’t see the steps and slipped, going down a good 10-12 rungs before he could stop himself. He sat quietly on the stairs for a few seconds, trying to recollect what had just happened. His phone also slipped from his hands as he slipped. Even the caption, “Almost killed myself this morning 🤣🤣🤣 I couldn’t even be mad when I got to the end I was in disbelief” exactly matched the situation.

For Terrion Arnold, the Lions had a keen interest in him, drafting him 24th overall (first round) of the 2024 NFL Draft. They even signed a 4-year $14.34 million fully guaranteed contract, with a $7.25 million signing bonus. He’s had a dream run at the franchise. It was a great start to his NFL career, as the team showed confidence in him. In 16 games (15 as a starter) this year, he recorded 10 passes defended with 1 fumble recovery and 60 tackles (47 solo) as the Lions secured the top seed in NFC. They stumbled at their first post-season hurdle to the Commanders, but Arnold still registered 6 tackles (5 solo) in the game.

So for the fans, this was just a funny moment with no bad juju. They had a laugh, some even light-heartedly trolling the cornerback.
