Following the Kansas City Chiefs recent setback, the Baltimore Ravens have surged into sole possession of first place in the AFC with an 8-3 record. For the Ravens, the stumble of another AFC contender only strengthens their position. Baltimore emerges as a formidable candidate to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl thanks to quarterback Lamar Jackson’s MVP-caliber season.

A key contributor to their success lies in the Ravens’ formidable defense, which stands out with impressive statistics. Currently ranked second in the NFL for points allowed per game at 16.1, third in yards allowed per game at 273.5, and leading the league in sacks with 44. However, Nick Wright believes the Ravens can still not be considered the best team in the AFC and voiced his reasons behind it.

Speaking on his “What’s Wright?” show, Wright expressed skepticism about the Ravens being considered a juggernaut. He mentioned that there are still places where the team can show improvement if they really want to make it to the Super Bowl.

Wright rightly explained why he doesn’t think the Ravens looked like a complete team against the Las Vegas Raiders. He said, “I don’t think the Ravens looked like the more complete team. Anybody thought Ravens looked great in Sunday Night Football against the Chargers? I didn’t. That’s the worst defense in the NFL, the Ravens had a 13 points with a minute left. Now they ended up with 20 because Zay Flowers ran in the touchdown.”

Then the co-host intervened and asked Wright, “How do you think the Chiefs would do if they missed Travis Kelce.” To that, Wright explains how Mark Andrews is not coming back this season, it shouldn’t matter. It’s like saying how would Chiefs do without Tyreek Hill. So Wright completely dismissed the Ravens’ last performance, however Jason McCourty felt different about the team.

Jason McCourty recently expressed strong confidence in the Baltimore Ravens’ potential. He particularly highlighted quarterback Lamar Jackson’s dynamic playmaking skills.

McCourty pointed out that, while Jackson’s consistency might be a topic of debate, his ability to execute plays is commendable. Especially with the support of receivers like Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham Jr., he is noteworthy. He also mentioned the emerging talent of undrafted rookie Keaton Mitchell, who brings a fresh burst of energy to the Ravens’ running game.
