Jerry Jones has unwavering faith in Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy. Even after Monday’s disheartening loss to the Green Bay Packers and despite the team being ousted from the playoffs, the owner thinks that there are no changes to be made to the roster. While Jerry Jones held himself accountable for a dismal post-season performance, he promised that the team is doing its best to bounce back.

The Dallas Cowboys owner recently shared a statement after the loss and Tom Pelissero was quick to share it with the world. Safe to say that McCarthy’s post-season record in his career has convinced Jerry Jones to keep him around. This is McCarthy’s last year with the Dallas Cowboys, and many Cowboys fans voiced their opinion to fire the HC. However, there is always more to what meets the eye, and the same was highlighted by the owner of the Cowboys.

At some point in the Cowboys-Packers game, the Packers were 27-0 to the Cowboys. The fans were fuming at such a disappointing home game performance that they wanted McCarthy be to fired mid-game. While the community was complacent that something worse was coming for the HC after the game, nothing happened.

Meanwhile, the Patriots parted ways with Bill Belichick and people started anticipating that Belichick’s next home would unequivocally be the Dallas Cowboys. However, that was just a rumor and Jerry Jones did the opposite. Credits to the X post of Tom Pelissero, the clarification of McCarthy’s stay as the Cowboys coach in 2024 was put forward.

Jones’ statement maintained a humble yet stern stance that the owner would keep Mike McCarthy around. He justified why he believed that keeping McCarthy around is a wise choice. Per Jones, not firing McCarthy is due to the management’s “holistic” approach and he reiterated that McCarthy has helped the players to maximize their potential in more than one way.

An excerpt from his statement said, “There is great benefit to continuing the team’s progress under Mike’s leadership as our head coach. Specifically, there are many layers of success that have occurred this season as a result of Mike’s approach to leading the team, both with individual players and with our team collectively.”

The 81-year-old pointed out that McCarthy has the highest winning percentage as far as the regular season is concerned. The team is just focused on transforming these regular season wins to the post-season. The Cowboys owner further added that he is “accountable” for the results that his team has been producing.

What’s next for the Dallas Cowboys?

The Cowboys will head into the future hoping that they can shatter the “playoffs image” that they have maintained over the years. The team never successfully carried themselves forward in the playoffs. So, they will be perusing their decision-making process, looking at individual player performance and their contract details in depth.

However, there might be a slight change in the roster, that might not be under Jerry Jones’ control. The DC Dan Quinn has been interviewing with the Panthers and Titans for the head coach position, and he might leave if the opportunity presents itself.

As far as McCarthy is concerned, he will address the public at a conference on Thursday. For now, he is here to stay. “While we’re all disappointed with the result on Sunday and with our playoff record, I am 100 percent supportive of him as our head coach and ability to reach our goals,” added Jones in his statement.

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
