Although the Kansas City Chiefs are 5-4, their starting quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, has maintained an elite level of performance this season. He has thrown for 2,349 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and has just 5 interceptions in the current season. His current stats rank him 3rd in yard coverage and 4th in QBR. Apart from his spectacular performance, there is one thing that has changed for Mahomes throughout his career, and that’s his faith in Christianity, as discussed by the Chiefs’ owner.

Chief’s CEO, Clark Hunt, recently appeared on the Intersection Podcast and said that the one player from the team he has enjoyed witnessing his growing faith in Christianity is Patrick Mahomes. He also mentioned that anytime he gets an opportunity to have that (faith and Christianity) conversation(with Mahomes), it’s always special.
“One of the guys that I have enjoyed seeing you know grow so much in his faith has been Patrick Mahomes. He was raised in a Christian family, and I have seen him be more demonstrative, you know, of his faith here across the years,” Hunt said. “And anytime that I have an opportunity to, you know to have that conversation. It’s always special.”

Mahomes has been quite vocal about his faith in Christianity on several occasions, and after Hunt’s comment, it appears that his faith remains unchanged, having grown deeper. He once told Fox News, “Faith has always been big with me. I’m glorifying Him every single time I’m out there”. Also, during a media event in 2024, Mahomes had said, “My Christian faith plays a role in everything that I do.”
Although Mahomes was born into a Christian family, he became more serious about his faith in Christianity during the 7th grade. That’s when he got heavily involved in his youth group. Mahomes’ mother said, “He got saved” when she saw Mahomes singing with his hands raised to the Lord.

Mahomes also thanks god and expresses his strong belief in him through his social media handles. This was evident from his tweet from January 27, 2025, which read, “Thank you God!”. Mahomes is also a regular attendee at the team’s chapel services, regularly attended by Hunt and his family as well.
Meanwhile, Clark Hunt has been the CEO of the Kansas City Chiefs since 2010. Under him, the Chiefs have grabbed nine AFC West Division championships and eight consecutive division titles, and even Andy Reid was hired as the head coach under him. He has also built a culture around his Christian faith and makes it his top priority for the staff as well.

The Chiefs are the only NFL team to offer a chapel service for fans before games. This also shows that even Hunt believes in helping employees develop spiritually. With the help of Hunt’s support and partnership with local churches and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the team has been offering fans a nondenominational pregame chapel service.
Additionally, a similar prayer service is provided in Arrowhead Stadium’s pavilion, so that fans attending the Chiefs game won’t miss their Sunday worship routine. Hunt, who became a Christian at the age of 10, mentioned how he wants his employees to grow in October 2020 at the CityFest East Texas Men’s Luncheon. “We want our employees to develop spiritually,”

Both Mahomes and Hunt are the most influential figures in the Kansas City Chiefs organization, and they both anchor their leadership in a shared foundation of their faith in Christianity. Together, their belief and faith have continued to take the Chiefs to new heights, providing both of them with individual peace.
