The state of officiating in the NFL arguably does not seem to be at its best. The recent Chiefs vs the Bills game served as a testament to this premise, gaining major backlash from everyone around. The Packers and Giants’ MNF match witnessed a similar stance, as one more bungle from the refs has taken the NFL world by storm. Troy Aikman, the former Dallas Cowboys QB, couldn’t take any more of these potentially heinous play calls and addressed the situation on live TV.

A tweet from Dov Kleiman displays exactly what transpired in the Packers vs. Giants game. The play in question involves an incident that happened with QB Jordan Love in the first half of the game at MetLife Stadium. While the NFL world continues to pour in varied verdicts, common grounds of questions looming over the referees’ heads continue to take over the scene.

The Packers were leading in the Giants clash by 10-7 when Jordan Love was taken down by Jason Pinnock in the second quarter. We can witness Jordan Love losing the ball as it gets picked up by a Giants player. From the looks of it, the play was a fumble, but the refs took an eternity to finally make a call, and from basic context and comment from a former NFL player, they still erred in doing so.

Aikman is a renowned NFL analyst and ex-Cowboys QB, who thinks that the whole situation was a debacle on the referee’s part. “The problem with all this is, just make the call. You know, I mean there’s 13 seconds in the half, just make a decision”. Per the commentators during the game, such incidents are the reason behind the pausing of the game. They further reiterated how the state of officiating is in shambles right now.

“This is ridiculous what we’re watching right now,” said Aikman on live TV. Similar scenes were witnessed during two recent clashes for the Kansas City Chiefs as well. One was their latest battle against the Buffalo Bills and another was the clash against the Packers in what was expected to be a close game.

The Chiefs Vs. Bills debacle

The Chiefs vs Bills match witnessed rather unexpected scenes, with one being the outburst of Patrick Mahomes on the sidelines over a penalty. The QB and the HC of the side could be seen visibly angry when the referees penalized Kadarius Toney for being offside. This was while Mahomes threw a 25-yard pass to tight end Travis Kelce, who then passed it back to Toney for the score.

Officials threw the flag, addressing how Toney was lined up in the neutral zone before the ball was hiked. The call raised a lot of questions and some fans believe that Toney tried to confer with the refs whether he was offside or not and got the green light for the play. It would have been a go-ahead touchdown if not for the penalty.

Because of this, the Chiefs have now reached a mark of 8-5, slowly losing their chances to secure the top spot in the AFC. But this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to the Chiefs. The Packers game saw a similar matter arising for the Kansas City Team.

For a lot of fans, the Packers winning against the Chiefs was refreshing, but it came at a cost that caused a rift between the teams, the fans, and the refs. Brad Allen, on two different occasions, caused a major blunder that left the Chiefs with disappointment. The obvious one was the pass to MVS near the end zone where he got pulled from behind and the pass didn’t get ruled in his favor.
