At 1-6, no one is now safe in Nashville. After the coaching staff, the shake-up shifts to the locker room. While two players seem safe, with 51 names under review, Tennessee Titans GM Mike Borgonzi has his hands full trying to steady a sinking ship.

As per reports, Borgonzi and the president of football operations, Chad Brinker, have plans to rebuild the roster. Almost every player’s future in the team is uncertain, except for two players, as per Adam Schefter’s new report. And the two pieces on the roster are quarterback Cam Ward and star defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons.

Ward was drafted as the 1st overall in the 2025 NFL draft. He helped the Titans recover from an 18-point deficit to win. He leads all rookies with 1,101 passing yards and an average of 183 per game. Ward has completed under 40% of his passes between 10–19 yards and 40% beyond 20 yards, per Pro Football Focus. So, he has shown potential despite the troubles. This could also be due to the lack of crucial weapons around him. So, it’s understandable why the team is hesitant to trade these two players.

Drafted as the 19th pick, Simmons has been a part of the team since 2019. The DT is one of the few players who have remained on the roster after their stint of two back-to-back AFC South titles in 2020 and 2021. Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson cannot imagine the roster without him.

“You can’t replace Jeff Simmons,” he said. “He’s played as a best three technique as anyone in the National Football League this year.” He has two 2 years left on his $94 million extension deal.  It seems that he will weather this storm to stay with the Titans. The rest are still on notice amid this crisis.

Head coach Brian Callahan didn’t survive the skid, getting fired just six games into his first season. As head coach, he had a record of 4-19 across 23 games. After Callahan, senior offensive assistant Mike McCoy is named the interim coach. And while McCoy has shifted the focus to their next game against the Indianapolis Colts, the front office will continue to evaluate its roster. And there have been some names in the rumors.

3 Titans players who can get traded

As per sources, the Titans might trade outside linebacker Arden Key before the deadline on November 4. He’s in the final year of his three-year, $21 million contract and has recorded 1.5 sacks in five games. While a quad injury has sidelined him for the past two weeks, he returned to practice Thursday in a limited role. With edge rushers, Jihad Ward and Dre’Mont Jones, having stepped up effectively, there’s a chance that the team might look to trade Key.

Another name is cornerback Roger McCreary, who has seen reduced playing time this season as the Titans have increased their use of three-safety defensive packages. McCreary, who plays nickel corner, has appeared on 57% of defensive snaps through seven games.

Apart from these two, wide receiver Calvin Ridley is also in the rumors. He is Ward’s favorite target. But he has not practiced since sustaining a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders and can be an option. He has two years remaining on his four-year, $92 million contract.

Tight end Chig Okonkwo, running back Tony Pollard, edge rusher Dre’Mont Jones, and other players’ futures remain uncertain, leaving questions about the Titans’ potential trades or roster moves in the near future.
